What is the maximum time for retention of the school-level excellent teacher title in Vietnam?
As per Article 5 of the Regulations on the Excellent Teacher Contest for Preschool Education Institutions; Excellent Teacher, Excellent Homeroom Teacher of General Education Institutions issued with Circular 22/2019/TT-BGDDT:
Recognition of the Titles of Excellent Teacher, Excellent Homeroom Teacher
- Teachers are recognized as excellent teachers, excellent homeroom teachers, and are granted a certificate by the organizing body of the contest upon participating in all contents of the Excellent Teacher, Excellent Homeroom Teacher contest and meeting the requirements according to the evaluation results for teachers participating in the contest at each regulated level under Article 17 of these Regulations.
- The titles of excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher are retained as follows: The title of a school-level excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher is retained for a period of 1 year following the year of recognition as a school-level excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher; the title of district-level excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher is retained for a period of 1 year following the year of recognition as a district-level excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher; the title of province-level excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher is retained for a period of 3 years following the year of recognition as a province-level excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher.
- The titles of excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher retained are not used as criteria for participating in the excellent teacher, excellent homeroom teacher contests at various levels.
Thus, the title of a school-level excellent teacher is retained for a period of 1 year.
What are the criteria for participating in the school-level Excellent Teacher Contest for preschool teachers in Vietnam?
As per Clause 2, Article 6 of the Regulations on the Excellent Teacher Contest for Preschool Education Institutions; Excellent Teacher, Excellent Homeroom Teacher of General Education Institutions issued with Circular 22/2019/TT-BGDDT:
Content and Criteria for Participating in the Excellent Teacher Contest for Preschool Education

- Participation Criteria:
a) Teachers participating in the school-level contest must meet the following criteria: Teachers must achieve a professional standard of at least satisfactory in the year prior to the contest year, including criteria 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, and 9 as outlined in Circular No. 26/2018/TT-BGDDT dated October 8, 2018, issued by the Minister of Education and Training, which prescribes standards of professional competency for preschool teachers at a good level;
The participation criteria for the school-level excellent teacher contest for preschool teachers are as follows:
- Ensure a professional standard of at least satisfactory in the year preceding the contest year;
- The following criteria achieve a good level:
+ Criterion 1. Educator Ethics: Be an exemplary role model in educator ethics; share experiences, support colleagues in cultivating educator ethics.
+ Criterion 3. Professional Development: Share experiences, guide, support colleagues in personal professional development.
+ Criterion 4. Developing Plans for Nurturing, Caring, and Educating with a Focus on Holistic Child Development: Participate in curriculum development at the school; support colleagues in creating plans for care and education aimed at holistic child development, suitable to the practical conditions of the school, class, and local culture.
+ Criterion 5. Nurturing and Caring for Children's Health: Share experiences, support colleagues in carrying out nurturing and caring activities aimed at improving children's physical and mental health status.
+ Criterion 6. Educating for Comprehensive Child Development: Guide, support colleagues in implementing, adjusting, renewing educational activities to enhance comprehensive child development quality.
+ Criterion 8. Managing Groups, Classes: Comply with requirements for managing children, facilities, and records of groups, classes as regulated;
+ Criterion 9. Creating a Safe, Healthy, Friendly Educational Environment: Share, support colleagues in organizing and building a physical and cultural-social environment that is safe, healthy, friendly for children.
