What is the schedule for the academic year 2024-2025 in Vietnam?
Based on Article 1 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT 2024, students will follow the schedule for the academic year 2024 2025 as follows:
- School starts at the earliest one week before the official opening day. For Grade 1, it starts at the earliest two weeks before the official opening day.
- Official opening is on September 5, 2024.
- End of Semester I before January 18, 2025, completing the program and ending the academic year before May 31, 2025.
- Recognizing completion of primary education program and graduation from lower secondary school before June 30, 2025.
- Completing enrollment for initial grades before July 31, 2025.
- The high school graduation exam for 2025 is expected to take place on June 26 and June 27, 2025.
- Other national-level exams are organized according to the regulations and guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training.
What are regulations on developing the plan for academic year of localities in Vietnam?
The regulations on developing the plan for academic year of localities in Vietnam shall be implemented according to Article 2 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT 2024:
- The academic year plan for localities must ensure 35 teaching weeks (18 weeks in Semester I, 17 weeks in Semester II).
- The academic year plan must be suitable for the characteristics and actual conditions of the locality.
- Public holidays, Tet are implemented according to the Labor Code and annual guidelines.
- Teachers' annual leave is implemented during summer or can be interspersed throughout the year to suit the specific characteristics and academic year plan of the locality.
- The academic year plan should ensure uniformity across all education levels within a residential area, especially in schools offering multiple education levels.
Additionally, the responsibility for implementing the timeline of the Decision follows Article 3 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT 2024 as follows:
- The Chairman of the People's Committee of provinces and centrally-run cities decides:
+ The academic year time plan for preschool education, general education, and continuing education suitable for the actual conditions of the locality.
+ The earliest school start time and extended school year time not exceeding 15 days compared to the regulations in Article 1 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT 2024 to ensure the completion of preschool, general education, and continuing education programs in case of natural disasters, epidemics;
For special arising cases, report to the Ministry of Education and Training before implementation.
- Director of the Department of Education and Training:
+ Decides on student leave in case of severe weather, natural disasters, and arranges makeup classes; ensures teachers' leave during the school year.
+ Reports to the Ministry of Education and Training on:
++ The preparation for the academic year and the organization of the school year opening 2024 - 2025 before September 10, 2024;
++ Summarizes the implementation of tasks, key solutions for the academic year 2024 - 2025, and results of emulation criteria, proposing commendations before June 25, 2025.
