d) Regarding health standards: No chronic or prolonged illnesses; balanced body shape and condition; no deformities or physical abnormalities; males must be at least 1.64 m tall and weigh at least 48 kg; females must be at least 1.58 m tall and weigh at least 45 kg. For students in Region 1 (including students eligible for priority policies in Region 1 admissions or students with a permanent residence of 5 years in Region 1), and ethnic minority students, the height and weight standards are lowered by 2 cm and 2 kg. For citizens currently or having completed their obligation in the People's Police Force or the People's Army, height and weight are according to the current regulations on health examinations for selecting citizens for police service. For Police units or localities with higher height and weight requirements than the general regulations, they must report to the Minister for a decision.

Who is eligible to apply for the Public Security schools in Vietnam?

According to Clause 1, Article 6, Circular 15/2016/TT-BCA, the groups eligible to apply for the Public Security schools are:

- Officers, soldiers in the official staff, who need to further their education and are nominated by their unit or local police;

- Citizens fulfilling their compulsory police service with at least 24 months of service time up to the month of application, with the willingness and nomination by their unit or local police;

- Students with permanent residency at the local registration place, who are members of the Communist Party of Vietnam or Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union;

- Citizens who have completed compulsory police service or military service within a period not exceeding 12 months from the date of discharge to the date of application.

What are the principles of admission to the Public Security schools?

According to Article 2, Circular 15/2016/TT-BCA, the admission principles to the Public Security schools are as follows:

- Admission to the Public Security schools must be based on the current admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training, the regulations, and guidelines of the Ministry of Public Security; the requirements of work, combat, and the building of the People's Police force; concurrently planning the workforce with the training plan to meet the required qualifications for each officer’s role they are or will be taking after graduation; ensuring quality, quantity; and executing democracy, fairness, transparency, and publicity.

- Admission to the Public Security schools is conducted by combining the evaluation of candidates’ political standards, moral qualities, academic performance, health, and talents as per the Ministry of Public Security’s regulations with the results of the exams, nominations, and selections according to the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the regulations of the Ministry of Public Security.

What documents are required for admission to the Public Security schools in Vietnam?

According to Article 14, Circular 15/2016/TT-BCA, the documents required for admission to the Public Security schools are as follows:

* For newly recruited students, the admission documents include:

- A voluntary application to join the police force (as per the Ministry of Public Security’s form);

- A self-declared biography (as per the Ministry of Public Security's form), confirmed by the People’s Committee and the local police at the commune-level;

- A background verification form (as per the Ministry of Public Security’s form);

- A health certificate (as per the Ministry of Public Security’s regulations);

- Birth certificate;

- Permanent residency registration;

- Academic transcript and high school diploma, certificate of completion of cultural subjects in the high school education program for those who graduated from intermediate level but do not have a high school diploma, provisional high school graduation certificate for those admitted in the graduation year (students enrolling in Cultural Police schools must have an academic record and secondary school diploma);

- Review minutes of the Police Admission Council at the unit or local police;

- Priority certificate (if any);

- Membership transfer form of the Youth Union, Communist Party (if any);

- Exam score report (except for Cultural schools);

- Admission notice from the school;

- Candidate’s commitment to political standards.

* For officers, soldiers in the official staff, full-time learning, the admission documents include:

- Decision to nominate the officer for study from the Head, Director of the unit or local police;

- Original profile of the officer, soldier;

- Membership transfer form of the Youth Union, Communist Party (if any);

- Transfer of salary, military uniforms, social insurance (or confirmation of not having social insurance);

- Exam score report (for courses with admission exams);

- Admission notice from the school;

- Priority certificate (if any);

- Academic transcript and high school diploma.

* For officers, soldiers in the official staff, part-time learning, the admission documents include:

- Decision to nominate the officer for study from the Head, Director of the unit or local police;

- Exam score report (for courses with admission exams);

- Admission notice from the school;

- Priority certificate (if any);

- Academic transcript and high school diploma;

- Intermediate, college diploma (for those admitted to the transfer course); university diploma (for those admitted to the second degree program).

The documents specified in points e, f, g, and h of Clause 1, points g and h of Clause 2, points d and e of Clause 3, Article 14 Circular 15/2016/TT-BCA are certified copies, and the originals must be presented for verification upon admission.
