IOE stands for Internet Olympiads of English. This is an English Olympiad competition via the Internet for students from grade 3 to grade 12 in Vietnam who have internet access.
*The main objectives of the competition are:
Spark interest in English: Create an engaging playground for students to practice and improve their English skills.
Apply English in practice: Help students get familiar with using English in different communication situations.
Discover and nurture talent: Identify students with aptitudes in English to foster.
Additionally, in Section 2, Chapter 2 of the Rules for the English Internet Olympiad for general education students (IOE) issued with Decision 5572/QD-BGDDT in 2014 Download, the registration process for participating in IOE is stipulated as follows:
- Register as a member on the website www.ioe.vn.
Students need to register with correct information including full name; class, school; district; province, city information.
Students can register to compete in the Olympic within their same educational level.
- After registering as a member, students log into the website with their registered username and password.
After successful login, students select "Enter Competition" to participate in practice rounds and select "Official Competition" for official Olympic rounds at all levels.
- The student's username must not violate the website www.ioe.vn's naming regulations.
The display name must be accurate as stated on the birth certificate, and the profile image must be appropriate to be approved as a member of the English Internet Olympiad.
Students are encouraged to use their ID photos as the profile image. Students must be responsible for securing their account.

When can students in Vietnam compete in the school-level IOE?
Based on Section 4, Chapter 3 of the Rules for the English Internet Olympiad for general education students (IOE) issued with Decision 5572/QD-BGDDT in 2014 Download, the conditions to participate in the official rounds are stipulated as follows:
Conditions to participate in official rounds
Primary and lower secondary school students can participate in all official Olympic rounds at school, district, and provincial/city levels (if available).
Upper secondary school students can participate in all official Olympic rounds at the school level, provincial/city level (if available).
National level Olympic rounds for primary and lower secondary school are only for students in grades 5 and 9.
National level Olympic rounds for upper secondary school are only for students in grade 11.
Departments of Education and Training decide the selection method for students in grades 5, 9, and 11 to participate in national-level rounds.
Thus, students in grades 5, 9, and 11 are eligible to compete at the national level IOE. The selection method for students will be decided by the Departments of Education and Training.

What are regulations on the number of Olympic rounds each year and official Olympic rounds in Vietnam?
Based on Chapter 3 of the Rules for the English Internet Olympiad for general education students (IOE) issued with Decision 5572/QD-BGDDT in 2014 Download, the official IOE rounds are stipulated as follows:
Each academic year has 4 official Olympic rounds for primary and lower secondary school; 3 official Olympic rounds for upper secondary school and practice rounds for students.
The practice rounds are updated weekly by the National Organizing Committee on the website starting from August 20 each year.
In practice rounds, students complete 4 tasks with a maximum score of 330 points in 60 minutes, with the system showing results after each question. If lacking computer or internet access, students can practice through other suitable means.
Official rounds at all levels last 30 minutes, with the number of questions varying based on student speed. The system does not display results after each question and does not show questions again even in cases of technical issues.
In official rounds, students can submit before the allocated time ends. Results display only after submission or time expiration.
The competition start time is uniform nationwide for each official round, irrespective of when students begin. In case of any issues during an official round, students can retake immediately but must finish within the set time or in another session (if available). The system does not count attempts in official rounds.

Students who lose accounts from previous levels can create new accounts for the next level but must inform the respective Examination Council and get confirmation from the preceding level's Council (if available).

Students can leave the exam room but remain within the competition area if they finish the test earlier than the allotted time for the official round.
