In Vietnam, what is the educational level at which career-oriented education for students will apply?
Under Section 4 of the General Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the 2024-2025 academic year plan regarding students' learning time across education levels is as follows:
The general education program is divided into two phases:
Basic education phase (from Grade 1 to Grade 9) and career-oriented education phase (from Grade 10 to Grade 12).
The system of subjects and educational activities of the general education program includes compulsory subjects and educational activities, optional subjects for career orientation (abbreviated as elective subjects), and optional subjects.
The actual learning time within an academic year is equivalent to 35 weeks. Educational institutions can organize teaching in one session per day or two sessions per day.
Institutions organizing teaching in one session per day and two sessions per day must implement compulsory educational content uniformly across all educational institutions nationwide.
[1]. Basic Education Phase
- Primary Education Level
Conduct teaching in two sessions per day, with no more than 7 lessons per day; each lesson lasts 35 minutes. Educational institutions not yet capable of organizing two-session teaching per day will follow the educational plan guidance from the Ministry of Education and Training.
- Lower Secondary Education Level
Each day includes one session, with no more than 5 lessons per session; each lesson lasts 45 minutes. Schools capable of organizing two-session teaching per day are encouraged to do so according to the Ministry's guidelines.
[2]. Career-oriented Education Phase (Upper Secondary Education Level)
Each day includes one session, with no more than 5 lessons per session; each lesson lasts 45 minutes. Schools capable of organizing two-session teaching per day are encouraged to do so according to the Ministry's guidelines.
Thus, the career-oriented education phase for students applies to the upper secondary education level.
