Pursuant to Section V of the Appendix on the General Education Program for Mathematics issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the required achievements after studying Mathematics are as follows:

In the program, the section on spatial geometry and measurement on the Symbols of quantities and units of measurement, students will learn about the following contents:

- Recognize units of area measurement: km2 (square kilometers), ha (hectares).

- Recognize "volume" through specific symbols.

- Recognize some common volumetric units: cm3 (cubic centimeters), dm3 (cubic decimeters), m3 (cubic meters).

- Recognize the speed of uniform motion; names, symbols of some common speed units: km/h (km/hour), m/s (m/second).

Thus, in the Grade 5 math curriculum, students will learn the time calculation formula.

From the speed calculation formula, we can deduce the time needed to travel in a uniform motion.

What are requirements for building grade 5 mathematics teaching program in Vietnam?

The program embodies the spirit of “mathematics for everyone,” wherein everybody can learn math but each individual can learn math in a way that suits their preferences and abilities.

The Mathematics curriculum focuses on application, connecting with reality and other subjects or educational activities, especially those aligned with STEM education, linked with modern developments in economy, science, social life, and urgent global issues (such as climate change, sustainable development, financial education,...).

This is also reflected through practical and experiential activities in math education with various forms such as: conducting research projects, learning projects about mathematics, especially those topics and projects on applying mathematics in practice.

Organizing math learning games, math clubs, forums, seminars, competitions on mathematics,... these activities create opportunities for students to apply knowledge, skills, and personal experiences practically and creatively.

Thus, Grade 5 mathematics teaching program needs to ensure simplicity yet modernity.
