According to Subsection 1, Section 2 of Official Dispatch 3089/BGDDT-GDTrH in 2020, the regulations on teaching science subjects through STEM are as follows:
- This is the primary form of organizing STEM education in secondary school.
Teachers design STEM lessons to implement during the teaching process of subjects in the general education program through an intra-disciplinary or interdisciplinary integrated approach.
- The content of STEM lessons closely adheres to the curriculum content of the subjects to fulfill the general education program according to the specified duration of subjects in the program.
- Students engaged in STEM lessons actively research textbooks and learning materials to receive and apply knowledge through activities such as solving problems; designing, creating, and testing design models; sharing, discussing, and refining or adjusting design models under the guidance of the teacher.

What are regulations on organization of STEM educational experiential activities in Vietnam?
Based on Section 2 of Official Dispatch 3089/BGDDT-GDTrH in 2020, the STEM experiential activities are organized as follows:
- STEM experiential activities are organized in the form of clubs or real-life experiential activities; they are implemented according to students' preferences, talents, and voluntary selection.
Schools can organize STEM experiential spaces within the school; introduce digital libraries, virtual experiments, simulations, learning software for students to explore and discover experiments, and the application of science and technology in real life.
- STEM experiential activities are organized according to the school's annual educational plan; the content of each experiential session is designed into specific lessons, clearly describing the purpose, requirements, process, and expected outcomes.
Priority is given to related activities, follow-up activities at the application level (designing, testing, discussing, and refining) of activities in the STEM lesson plan according to the school's teaching plan.
- Strengthen cooperation between secondary schools and higher education institutions, research facilities, vocational education institutions, businesses, households, other socio-economic components, and families to effectively organize STEM experiential activities in accordance with current regulations.
Additionally, Subsection 3, Section 2 of Official Dispatch 3089/BGDDT-GDTrH in 2020 also stipulates the organization of scientific and technical research activities as follows:
- This activity is for students who have the ability, interest, and enthusiasm for exploring scientific and technical issues to solve practical problems; through the process of organizing STEM lessons and STEM experiential activities, talented students are identified and nurtured, creating favorable conditions for them to participate in scientific and technical research.
- Scientific and technical research activities are carried out in the form of a research topic/project by an individual or a group of two members, under the guidance of teachers or specialized scientists.
- Depending on the actual situation, STEM days or scientific and technical competitions can be periodically organized at the unit to evaluate, commend the efforts of teachers and students in teaching and learning organization, and select research topics/projects to participate in higher-level scientific and technical competitions.
What are regulations on experiential activities of STEM education in Vietnam?
According to Subsection 2, Section 3 of Official Dispatch 3089/BGDDT-GDTrH in 2020, STEM education experience activities include:
- The content of STEM experiential activities should be chosen to align with achieving the goals of the general education program, creating excitement and motivation for learning to develop students' qualities and capabilities.
- Focus on activities related to and following up on the application level (designing, testing, discussing, and refining) of activities in the STEM lessons within the program, emphasizing solving real-world social, scientific, and technological problems.
- The content of STEM experiential activities can be connected with career-related activities in the STEM fields to support the learning process, create excitement and motivation for learning, and contribute to career orientation for students.
- The organization of STEM experiential activities should be diverse and engaging, drawing students into exploration and application of knowledge to solve real-world social, scientific, and technological problems.
- The form of organizing STEM experiential activities can be flexible, combining in-school (in the form of clubs) and out-of-school (exploration of reality) activities.
- Strengthen group activities to develop communication and collaboration skills among students, ensuring each student's specific tasks and products within the group are clearly defined.
