When are primary school students in Vietnam awarded the title of Student with good completion in study and training?

According to the provisions in Article 13 of the Regulations on the Assessment of Primary School Students issued together with Circular 27/2020/TT-BGDDT, the following is stipulated:

Commendations

1. Principals shall award certificates of achievement for students:

a) End-of-year commendation:

- Award Excellent student title for student achieving Excellent completion;

- Award Student with good completion in study and training title for students achieving Good completion and earning excellent achievement in at least 1 subject or show clear development in at least 1 trait or capacity and receive recognition by the whole class.

b) Irregular commendation: students earning sudden achievements in school years.

2. Students with special achievements considered and requested for commendation by the schools.

3. Managing officials and teachers may send commendation letters to students with achievements and efforts during studying, training processes or students with good deeds.

Thus, primary school students achieving Good completion will be awarded the title of Student with good completion in study and training.

According to the provisions of Article 9 of the Regulations on the Assessment of Primary School Students issued together with Circular 27/2020/TT-BGDDT:

Consolidation of academic assessment results

2. At the end of a school year, based on consolidated assessment results of each subjects, academic activities and primary traits, capacities, class mentors shall:

a) Assess academic results of students by 4 levels:

- Excellent completion: Students who achieve excellent scores in assessment results of subjects, academic activities; good in traits and capacities; at least 9 score in periodic final exams of subjects;

- Good completion: Students who fail to achieve excellent completion but achieve good scores in assessment results of subjects, academic activities; good in traits and capacities; at least 7 score in periodic final exams of subjects;

- Completion: Students who fail to achieve excellent and good completion but achieve good or completion scores in assessment results of subjects, academic activities; good or satisfied in traits and capacities; at least 5 score in periodic final exams of subjects;

- No completion: Other students.

Thus, for the score condition, primary school students with at least 7 score in periodic final exams of subjects will be awarded the title of Student with good completion in study and training

Is achieving the title of Student with good completion in the study and training recorded in the primary school student’s academic record?

Under the content in Appendix 1 issued together with Circular 27/2020/TT-BGDDT:

GUIDANCE FOR RECORDING ACADEMIC RECORDS

The academic record is used to record the aggregated evaluation results at the end of the school year of the student. When recording the academic record, teachers need to study carefully Circular No. 27/2020/TT-BGDDT dated September 4, 2020, by the Minister of Education and Training on issuing regulations on the assessment of primary school students.

3. Section "2. Key Qualities" and section "3. Core Capabilities"

- In the column “Achieved Level” corresponding to each evaluated content on quality, capability: record the symbol T if the student reaches a “Good” level, Đ if the student reaches a “Satisfactory” level, or C if the student is at a “Need Improvement” level.

- In the column “Comments” corresponding to the quality assessment content: record the manifestations, progress, strengths, limitations, or recommendations (if any) regarding the formation and development of several primary qualities of the student.

Example: Attend school fully, on time; confident in expressing personal opinions; keep promises; respect and know how to help others;...

- In the column "Comments" corresponding to the capability assessment content: record the manifestations, progress, strengths, limitations, or recommendations (if any) on the formation and development of several general capabilities, specific capabilities of the student.

Example: Know how to maintain personal hygiene, dress neatly; proactive, cooperative in learning; have self-study ability; ...; fluently use language in life and learning, capable of thinking, reasoning, and solving familiar mathematical problems;...

4. Section "4. Education Results Assessment"

Record one of four levels: “Excellent Completion”; “Good Completion”; “Completion” or “Not Completed”.

5. Section "5. Awards"

Record the achievements for which the student is awarded during the school year.

Example: Achieved Excellence Student title; Achieved title of Student with good completion in the study and training; Won Second Prize in the district-level Traffic Safety exchange;...

...

According to the above guidance, in the "Commendations" section of the primary school student’s academic record, teachers record the achievements for which the student is awarded during the school year, including "achieving the title of Student with good completion in the study and training".
