In sports in general, the spirit of fair play requires athletes, coaches, and even fans to maintain a respectful attitude towards opponents, referees, and spectators. What is Fair Play if it is not the commitment to avoid cheating, intentionally causing harm, or exploiting loopholes in the laws to gain an unfair advantage?

What is Fair Play in Football?

Football, known as the king of sports, always emphasizes the spirit of fair play. This is how players, teams, and even fans show respect for the values of honesty, ethics, and sportsmanship.

Some actions that clearly demonstrate fair play in football include:

- Stopping the game to assist an injured opponent.

- Returning the ball to the opposing team when it goes out of play due to unforeseen circumstances.

- Admitting a fault when the referee does not notice a violation.

What are the schools' responsibilities for sports activities in Vietnam?

According to Article 11 of Circular 48/2020/TT-BGDDT stipulating the schools' responsibilities for sports activities, it includes:

- Strictly implementing this Circular and the directions and guidance of higher education management agencies.

- Conducting the evaluation and classification of students' physical fitness according to regulations.

- Assigning physical education teachers and instructors to participate in guiding, organizing, and managing sports clubs and sports competitions.

- Developing a plan to facilitate physical education teachers and instructors in receiving training to enhance their professional skills, participating in scientific research, guiding, and organizing sports practice and competition activities, and coaching teams for sports competitions at various levels.

- Developing a plan for organizing sports activities for students within the school and delegating teams to participate in sports competitions organized by educational management agencies at all levels, the Vietnam Student Sports Association, and the Vietnam University and Professional Sports Association.

- Annually planning the construction, repair, maintenance, and use of facilities; purchasing and supplementing physical education and sports equipment to serve the Physical Education subject and sports activities.

Are schools in Vietnam required to establish sports clubs?

The establishment of sports clubs in schools is specified in Article 3 of Circular 48/2020/TT-BGDDT as follows:

Sports Club

1. The establishment, management, and development of sports clubs depend on the actual conditions of the school and the training needs, interests, and health of students. Each school must have at least one sports club actively functioning regularly and systematically.

2. Schools must arrange reasonable time and integrate sports club activities with the Physical Education subject in the education program across all levels, ensuring continuity and contributing to the comprehensive development of physical fitness and school sports.

3. Organization of the development of swimming, traditional martial arts, and ethnic sports must be suitable to the traditions and actual conditions of the locality."

Thus, each school must have at least one sports club actively functioning regularly and systematically according to regulations. Therefore, establishing at least one sports club within the school is the school's responsibility.

Additionally, schools must arrange reasonable time and integrate sports club activities with the Physical Education subject in the education program across all levels, ensuring continuity and contributing to the comprehensive development of physical fitness and school sports.
