3. The first semester will end before January 18, 2025, and the full-year program will conclude before May 31, 2025.

4. The recognition of primary education completion and junior secondary graduation will be concluded before June 30, 2025.

5. The admission process for new classes will be completed before July 31, 2025.

6. The high school graduation exam for 2025 is scheduled to be held on June 26 and June 27, 2025.

7. Other national exams will be organized according to the Ministry of Education and Training's regulations and guidelines.

1. The Chairman of the Provincial or Municipal People's Committee directly under the central government decides:

b) The early school start and extended school year should not exceed 15 days compared to the regulations in Article 1 of this Decision to ensure the completion of the preschool, general education, and continuing education curricula in case of natural disasters or epidemics; for special cases, report to the Ministry of Education and Training before implementation.

2. The Director of the Department of Education and Training:

a) Decides on school closure due to extreme weather, natural disasters, and arranges makeup classes, ensuring teachers' vacation time during the school year.

b) Reports to the Ministry of Education and Training on:

- The preparation for the school year and the opening ceremony of the 2024 - 2025 school year before September 10, 2024;

- Summarizing the implementation of tasks, key solutions for the 2024 - 2025 school year, the results of the emulation criteria, and proposing rewards by June 25, 2025, at the latest.

What are the principles for pormulating the 2024-2025 school year plan for lower secondary school students in each locality in Vietnam?

Based on Article 2 of Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT of 2024, the principles for formulating the 2024-2025 school year plan for lower secondary school students in the local areas are as follows:

- The school year plan must ensure a total of 35 weeks of actual study (the first semester has 18 weeks, the second semester has 17 weeks).

- The school year plan must be appropriate to the local characteristics and practical conditions.

- Public holidays and Tet holidays are implemented according to the Labor Code and the annual guiding documents.

- Teacher's annual leave should be taken during summer vacation or can be arranged at different times throughout the year to suit specific local characteristics and the school year plan.

- The school year plan should ensure uniformity across different educational levels within the same residential area, especially in schools containing multiple educational levels.

What is the duration of lower secondary education level?

According to Clause 1 of Article 28 of the Education Law 2019 as follows:

Levels and Ages of General Education

1. The levels and ages of general education are regulated as follows:

a) Primary education lasts for five years, from grade one to the end of grade five. The age of students entering grade one is six years old, calculated by year;

b) Lower secondary education lasts for four years, from grade six to the end of grade nine. Students must complete primary education before entering grade six. The age of students entering grade six is 11 years old, calculated by year;

c) Upper secondary education lasts for three years, from grade ten to the end of grade twelve. Students must have a lower secondary graduation certificate to enter grade ten. The age of students entering grade ten is 15 years old, calculated by year.
