What are the required outcomes regarding reading skills for students in Vietnam under the General Education Program in Literature?

Under Section 5 of the General Education Program in Literature issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the required outcomes regarding reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills for students according to the General Education Program in Literature are as follows:

(1) Required outcomes regarding reading skills

- Reading techniques: include requirements for reading posture, skills in reading aloud, silent reading, skimming, note-taking while reading, etc.

- Reading comprehension: the reading subject includes literary texts, argumentative texts, informational texts. Reading comprehension for each text type and genre generally requires achieving:

+ Understanding the content of the text expressed through details, topics, themes, ideas, messages, etc.;

+ Understanding the form through the characteristics of each text type and genre, the components of each text type and genre (story, plot, narrative, character, space, time, narrator, perspective, rhyme, rhythm, reasoning, evidence, etc.), expressive language, etc.;

+ Relating, comparing texts, connecting texts with historical, cultural, social contexts, connecting texts with the reader's personal experiences; comprehending multi-modal texts, etc.;

+ Extensive reading, memorizing selected literary passages, texts.

(2) Required outcomes regarding writing skills

- Writing techniques: include requirements for writing posture, skills in handwriting and spelling, document presentation skills, etc.

- Writing sentences, paragraphs, texts: include requirements for the process of creating texts and practical writing according to the characteristics of text types.
