Form reading comprehension
- Recognize some elements of proverbs: number of lines, words, rhyme.
- Recognize some elements of fables and science fiction such as themes, events, situations, plot, characters, space, time.
- Recognize character traits demonstrated through gestures, actions, dialogue; through the thoughts of other characters in the story; through the narrator's words.
- Recognize and state the effects of changing narrative perspectives (first-person narrator and third-person narrator) in a story.
- Recognize and comment on the uniqueness of a poem expressed through words, images, rhyme, rhythm, rhetorical devices.
- Recognize lyrical quality, personal voice, language of essays, prose.
Thus, students will be introduced to proses in the 7th-grade Literature curriculum.
