Higher Education Institutions
- Higher education institutions with legal personality include universities, colleges, and other higher education institutions with names appropriate to the law.
National universities, regional universities are universities that carry out national strategic tasks and regional development tasks of the country.
- Types of higher education institutions include:
a) Public higher education institutions invested by the State, ensuring operational conditions and representing the owner;
b) Private higher education institutions invested by domestic or foreign investors, ensuring operational conditions.
Non-profit private higher education institutions are those where the investors commit to non-profit operations, as recorded in the decision allowing establishment or the decision for conversion of the type of higher education institution; operating on a non-profit basis, without capital withdrawal, without profit distribution; the accumulated annual profit is jointly owned, unallocated, and reinvested for the development of the higher education institution.

What are factors for determination of the admission quota of a higher education institution in Vietnam?
Based on Clause 1, Article 34 of the Law on Higher Education 2012 (amended by Point a, Clause 19, Article 1 of the Amended Law on Higher Education 2018), the regulations on undergraduate admission quotas are as follows:

- Admission quotas are regulated as follows:
a) Admission quotas are determined according to disciplines, training groups based on labor market demands, socio-economic development requirements, and in accordance with the conditions regarding the quantity and quality of the teaching staff, infrastructure, the employment rate of graduates from the higher education institution, and other quality assurance conditions;
b) Higher education institutions self-determine admission quotas; publicly announce the admission quotas, training quality, and the conditions ensuring training quality, the employment rate of graduates; ensure the output standards of the publicly announced training programs;
c) Higher education institutions violating regulations regarding subjects, conditions, and admission quotas shall be handled according to law and shall not be allowed to self-determine admission quotas within 05 years from the conclusion of the state authority about the violation.

What are factors for determination of the training duration of a higher education institution in Vietnam?
Based on Article 35 of the Law on Higher Education 2012 (amended by Clause 20, Article 1 of the Amended Law on Higher Education 2018), the provisions on training duration are as follows:
Training Duration
Training duration is determined based on the number of credits required to be accumulated for each program and level. The number of credits required for each level is defined in the Vietnam National Qualifications Framework.
