What are the minimum teaching equipment requirements for Mathematics in Vietnam?
What are the minimum teaching equipment requirements for Mathematics in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Subsection 3 of Section 8 of the General Education Program for Mathematics issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the minimum teaching equipment for Mathematics are as follows:
(1) Mathematics teaching equipment include materials that contain and describe knowledge to support teachers and students in focusing on specific mathematical objects (concepts, relations, mathematical properties, etc.) to discover, explore, and deepen their understanding during the learning process.
(2) The use of Mathematics teaching equipment must ensure the following requirements:
- Teaching equipment must serve the educational goals for Mathematics, be appropriate for the content and the students, support the renewal of teaching methods, and avoid increasing the teaching content, the workload for teachers, and unnecessary expenses.
- Teaching equipment must be used at the right moment and place, avoid formalism or overuse that may counteract, reducing the effectiveness of the teaching process; create conditions for students to practice and manipulate the teaching equipment, thereby helping students actively explore and discover knowledge and contribute to the development of "the ability to use mathematical tools and means."
- Encourage the use of audiovisual aids and modern technical means to support the teaching process while valuing the use of traditional means. When possible, teachers should guide students on how to find information and resources on the Internet or educational programs on reputable television channels to expand their knowledge and self-learning ability.
- Increase the utilization of homemade teaching equipment: Besides the minimum teaching equipment specified in the list issued by the Ministry of Education and Training, initiatives, and creativity from students, teachers, and parents in exploiting, designing, and using homemade teaching equipment should be mobilized.
- Flexibly combine different types of teaching equipment: Each type of aid has its advantages and limitations; therefore, depending on the lesson content and teaching methods, various types of teaching equipment should be combined and coordinated reasonably and scientifically.
(3) Based on the objectives and requirements of the Mathematics program, the Ministry of Education and Training issues a list of minimum teaching equipment, ensuring sufficiency in quantity and type. Specifically:
+ Teaching equipment for numbers and calculations includes sets of teaching equipment for Natural numbers and calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with natural numbers; Fractions and calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with fractions; Decimals and Decimal number calculations; Percentages.
+ Teaching equipment for geometry and measurement includes sets of teaching equipment for recognizing, describing the shapes and features of certain plane figures and solids; practicing measuring, drawing, assembling, and shaping (corresponding to the Mathematics program for each grade); practicing weighing, measuring, counting, telling time, and buying and selling.
+ Teaching equipment for elements of statistics and probability includes sets of teaching equipment for Reading, describing, and displaying data in tables and statistical charts; getting acquainted with the likelihood of an event happening.
- Lower secondary school level:
+ Teaching equipment for numbers and algebra includes sets of teaching equipment for Integers and calculations with integers; Percentages; Functions and graphs.
+ Teaching equipment for geometry and measurement includes sets of teaching equipment for recognizing, describing the shapes and features of certain plane figures and solids; practicing measuring, drawing, and shaping associated with the studied plane figures and solids.
+ Teaching equipment for elements of statistics and probability includes sets of teaching equipment for Statistics and Probability.
- Upper secondary school level:
+ Teaching equipment for algebra and elements of calculus includes sets of teaching equipment for Functions and graphs.
+ Teaching equipment for geometry and measurement includes sets of teaching equipment for recognizing, describing the shapes and features of pyramids, prisms, cones, spheres, and cylinders, and conic sections.
+ Teaching equipment for statistics and probability includes sets of teaching equipment for Statistics and Probability.

What is the time allocation for the Mathematics program at different levels in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Subsection 2 of Section 8 of the General Education Program for Mathematics issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the time allocation for the program at different levels is as follows:
Grade | Grade 1 | Grade 2 | Grade 3 | Grade 4 | Grade 5 | Grade 6 | Grade 7 | Grade 8 | Grade 9 | Grade 10 | Grade 11 | Grade 12 |
No. of periods | 105 | 175 | 175 | 175 | 175 | 140 | 140 | 140 | 140 | 105 | 105 | 105 |
---|
For the upper secondary school level, each grade has an additional 35 periods/year for elective study modules.
What are the methods for forming and developing essential qualities of students when studying Mathematics in Vietnam?
Pursuant to Section 6 of the General Education Program for Mathematics issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, through the organization of learning activities, Mathematics contributes alongside other subjects and educational activities to help students cultivate honesty, a love for labor, a sense of responsibility, and an awareness of completing learning tasks; fostering self-confidence, enthusiasm for studying, a habit of reading books, and an awareness of exploration and scientific discovery.
