What documents do candidates need to submit upon university admission in Vietnam?
Upon admission to the university, candidates need to prepare the following documents to finalize their enrollment:
- Admission notification.
- Academic transcripts (certified copies).
- Admission dossier with a certified photo by the local government according to the standard form of the Ministry of Education and Training.
- Temporary high school graduation certificate for those admitted immediately after graduation or a high school diploma for those who graduated in previous years.

Until when are university-admitted students in Vietnam allowed to postpone military service?
Based on the regulations at Clause 1, Article 41 of the Military Service Law 2015 supplemented by Point c, Clause 1, Article 49 of the Militia and Self-Defense Law 2019, the regulations are as follows:
Temporary postponement of conscription and exemption from conscription
1. Temporary postponement of conscription is applied to the following citizens:
a) Not healthy enough to serve in the military according to the health examination board's conclusion;
b) The sole laborer who has to directly support a dependent family member who is incapable of working or has not reached the working age; families severely damaged in terms of people and property due to accidents, natural disasters, dangerous epidemics confirmed by the commune-level People's Committee;
c) One child of a wounded soldier, a person infected with Agent Orange whose working capacity is reduced by 61% to 80%;
d) Has siblings currently serving as non-commissioned officers, soldiers; non-commissioned officers, soldiers performing their duty in the Public Security force;
dd) Individuals relocated to special hardship communes for economic development projects approved by the provincial level People's Committee or higher within the first 3 years;
e) Officials and public employees, young volunteers deployed to work in areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions according to the law;
g) Currently studying at general education institutions; currently undergoing regular university education at higher education institutions, regular college education at vocational education institutions during the term of one training level;
h) Regular militia.

3. Citizens subject to temporary postponement of conscription under Clause 1 of this Article, if there is no longer a reason for postponement, conscription will be carried out.

Also, according to Article 30 of the Military Service Law 2015, the following regulations apply:
Conscription age
Citizens who are 18 years old are subject to conscription; the conscription age ranges from 18 to the end of 25 years old; citizens undergoing college, university education who have had their conscription postponed can be conscripted until the end of 27 years old.
Thus, university-admitted students are temporarily exempt from military service until they complete their university program. In case students drop out, they are no longer entitled to a deferral of military service.
