Pursuant to Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT in 2024 on the Framework for the academic year 2024 - 2025 schedule for preschool, general, and continuing education is as follows:

- The earliest start date is 1 week before the opening ceremony. For grade 1, the earliest start is 2 weeks before the opening ceremony.

- The opening ceremony is on September 5, 2024.

- The first semester ends before January 18, 2025, and the program completion and school year end before May 31, 2025.

- The recognition of primary school completion and junior high school graduation before June 30, 2025.

- Completing admission for the first-level classes before July 31, 2025.

- The high school graduation exam in 2025 is expected to take place on June 26 and June 27, 2025.

Thus, according to the above regulations, in December 2024, students will not have finished the first semester, which ends before January 18, 2025.

In the career-oriented education phase, how many sessions a day do students in Vietnam study?

According to Section 4 of the General Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the academic year 2024 - 2025 study schedule for students of all levels is as follows:

The general education program is divided into two phases:

Basic education phase (from grade 1 to grade 9) and career-oriented education phase (from grade 10 to grade 12).

The system of subjects and educational activities includes compulsory subjects, elective subjects according to career orientation (called elective subjects), and optional subjects.

The effective study time in a school year is equivalent to 35 weeks. Institutions may organize 1 session/day or 2 sessions/day.

Educational institutions conducting 1 session/day and 2 sessions/day must follow common compulsory education content that is consistent nationwide.

- Primary level

Conducts teaching 2 sessions/day, with no more than 7 periods per day; each period is 35 minutes. Institutions that cannot organize 2 sessions/day follow the Ministry of Education and Training's guidance.

- Junior high school level

One session per day, with no more than 5 periods in each session; each period lasts 45 minutes. Junior high schools that qualify are encouraged to conduct 2 sessions/day according to the Ministry of Education and Training guidance.
