What are practical and experiential activities for grade 1 Mathematics in Vietnam?
Based on Section 5 of the Mathematics Curriculum issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, schools organize the following activities for Grade 1 students and can supplement other activities depending on specific conditions.
Activity 1: Practice applying mathematical knowledge to real life, such as:
- Practice counting, recognizing numbers, and performing calculations in daily practical situations (for example: counting the number of desks and windows in the classroom,...).
- Practice activities related to position, spatial orientation (for example: identifying an object above or below the table, an object higher or lower than another object,...).
- Practice measuring and estimating the length of some objects in reality using the cm unit; practice reading the correct time on the clock, viewing the daily sheet calendar.
Activity 2: Organize extracurricular activities (for example: math games,...) related to reviewing and reinforcing basic knowledge.
What are objectives for primary students in Vietnam in Mathematics?
According to Subsection 2, Section 3 of the Mathematics Curriculum issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the objectives for primary students in mathematics are as follows:
- Contribute to forming and developing mathematical competence with the required achievements: perform thinking operations at a basic level; ask and answer questions when reasoning, solving simple problems; choose appropriate calculations and arithmetic formulas to present and express (verbally or in writing) the content, ideas, and ways to solve problems;
Use mathematical language combined with ordinary language, body movements to express mathematical content in simple situations; use simple tools and means to perform simple math learning tasks.
- Possess initial, essential basic mathematical knowledge and skills about:
+ Numbers and calculations: Natural numbers, fractions, decimals, and calculations on these number sets.
+ Geometry and Measurement: Observing, recognizing, and describing the shape and features (at a visual level) of some flat and solid shapes in reality; creating simple geometric models;
Calculating some geometric quantities; developing spatial imagination; solving some simple practical problems related to Geometry and Measurement (with common measuring quantities).
+ Statistics and Probability: Some simple statistical and probability elements; solving some simple practical problems related to some statistical and probability elements.
- Along with other subjects and educational activities such as Ethics, Nature and Society, Experiential Activities,... contribute to helping students have initial understanding about some professions in society.
