What are required writing skills in grade 5 Vietnamese Language?
Based on Section IV of the Appendix Educational Program for Vietnamese issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the requirements for Grade 5 Vietnamese Language include:
- Primary Qualities and General Competencies Requirements
The Vietnamese Language subject helps form and develop in students the primary qualities and general competencies at levels appropriate to the subject and educational level as prescribed in the Comprehensive Program.
- Distinctive Competency Requirements
(i) For language competence:
Firstly, correctly, fluently, and expressively read the text; understand the main content, primarily explicit content; initially grasp the implicit content such as the theme, lessons from the text read.
In terms of reading requirements: pay more attention to understanding specific content, themes, and deriving lessons from the text.
Secondly, in terms of writing requirements: initially, be able to write a short, complete essay, mainly narrative, descriptive essays, and simple introductions. Specifically:
- Write narratives recounting read stories, witnessed events, participated events, stories imagined by students; describe familiar objects, phenomena; introduce objects and activities close to students’ lives.
- Write paragraphs expressing the students' feelings and thoughts when reading a story, poem, witnessing an event evoking many emotions; express opinions on a simple issue in learning and life;
- Write various types of texts like autobiographies, messages, invitations, schedules, applications,...; initially write following the process; the essay must have three parts (introduction, body, conclusion).
Additionally, ideas and emotions should be presented understandably; initially know how to use appropriate gestures and expressions when speaking; clearly recount a read or heard story; share, exchange one's feelings and thoughts on discussed issues; know how to explain a simple object or process.
Listen with an appropriate attitude and grasp the basic content; recognize the speaker's emotions; know how to respond to what has been heard.
(ii) For Literary Competence:
General requirement: distinguish between narrative and poetic texts; recognize the text's content and the writer's attitude and feelings; initially understand the effect of some formal literary elements (language, characters, plot, rhyme, comparison, personification). Know how to imagine, relate, and express literary qualities in writing and speaking.
Requirement for grade 5 students: know how to read literary texts expressively; recount, summarize the story’s main content, poem; comment on characters, events, and the writer's attitude and feelings in the text; recognize time and location, some types of rhymes, rhythm, beautiful, unique words and images, and the effects of figurative language like personification and comparison. Understand the meaning or lessons from the text. Write narratives, descriptive essays expressing emotions and the ability to imagine and relate.
What knowledge is included in grade 5 Vietnamese Language?
Based on Section V of the Appendix Educational Program for Vietnamese issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, grade 5 Vietnamese Language includes:
