What are the general objectives when teaching grade 5 Literature in Vietnam?
According to Section 3 of the General Education Program for Literature issued under Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the education program for the Literature subject has the following general objectives:
- To form and develop essential qualities in students: patriotism, compassion, diligence, honesty, and responsibility; to cultivate the spirit, form character, and develop individuality.
Help students discover themselves and the world around them, understand people, have a rich spiritual life, and have a humane lifestyle and behavior; have a love for Vietnamese Language and Literature; be aware of cultural roots and national identity, contributing to the preservation and development of Vietnamese cultural values; have the spirit to absorb global cultural quintessence and the ability for international integration.
- Contribute to the development of general capacities in students: self-reliance and self-learning, communication and cooperation, problem-solving, and creativity.
Especially, the Literature subject (Vietnamese Language) helps students develop language and literary competence: practicing skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening; having a foundational general education knowledge system about Vietnamese Language and Literature, developing figurative and logical thinking, contributing to forming the basic education of a cultured person; knowing how to create common texts; being able to understand and evaluate literary texts in particular and communicative products and aesthetic values in general in life.
