General Information

Name of the event: National VioEdu Arena for the academic year 2024 – 2025 (abbreviated as National VioEdu Arena).

Organizing Unit: VioEdu Online Education System.

Purpose

- Aiming to create a useful and engaging knowledge playground throughout the academic year 2024 – 2025 to help students consolidate and enhance comprehensive knowledge across subjects, while discovering talent, nurturing passion, and spreading the love for learning among primary and secondary school students nationwide;

- Opportunity for students to access new learning methods: applying games to explore knowledge; enhance foreign language and computer skills.

COMPETITION RULES

Participants

- All students from grades 1 to 9 nationwide with an account on the VioEdu system. Register a new account here.

- Free participation on a voluntary basis.

Organization Format and Implementation Time

- Organization format: Online competition on the VioEdu platform and participation in side minigames on VioEdu’s communication channels.

- Implementation time: From October 2024 to May 2025 (25 weeks)

- Students log into their VioEdu account on the website vio.edu.vn or VioEdu app, select “Arena” => “National Arena” => Participate in the challenges of the playground.

Rules

Overview

- The playground will last for 25 weeks of competition, from October 2024 – May 2025, starting on October 14, 2024.

- Each week, from 07:00 Monday to 23:00 Sunday, students can choose to undertake one or multiple challenges to accumulate power points.

Reaching power point milestones will earn students titles and corresponding rewards. Students who skip a previous week's challenge can still participate in the next challenge, however, they cannot redo it.

- The challenges include: Pair Duel and Arena.

Pair Duel:

- The system randomly pairs 1:1, students can join at any time during the week until they run out of matches.

- The number of duels per week is as follows:

+ Week 1 – End of week 15: Accounts that have not purchased courses have 3 matches/week, accounts that have purchased courses have 5 matches/week.

+ Week 16 – Week 25: Accounts that have not purchased courses have 5 matches/week, accounts that have purchased courses have 10 matches/week.

- Exam structure: 20 questions in 5 minutes:

+ Primary students: 10 Math – 5 Vietnamese – 3 Math in English – 2 English

+ Lower secondary students: 20 Math questions

Arena:

- All students have one arena match/week, throughout the 25 weeks.

- The fixed competition time is every Friday

+ Grades 1,2,3,4: 20:00 – 20:15

+ Grades 5,6,7,8,9: 20:30 – 20:45

- Exam structure: 30 questions in 15 minutes.

+ Primary students: 15 Math – 8 Vietnamese – 4 Math in English – 3 English

+ lower secondary students: 30 Math questions

What is the age of lower secondary students in Vietnam?

Based on Article 28 of the Education Law 2019 stipulating the education levels and ages in general education as follows:

Education levels and ages in general education

1. Education levels and ages in general education are stipulated as follows:

a) Primary education lasts 05 academic years, from grade one to the end of grade five. The age of students entering grade one is 06 years old, counted by the year;

b) Lower secondary education lasts 04 academic years, from grade six to the end of grade nine. Students entering grade six must complete the primary education program. The age of students entering grade six is 11 years old, counted by the year;

c) Upper secondary education lasts 03 academic years, from grade ten to the end of grade twelve. Students entering grade ten must have a lower secondary education diploma. The age of students entering grade ten is 15 years old, counted by the year.

Lower secondary education is implemented over 04 academic years, from grade six to the end of grade nine. Students entering grade six must have completed the primary education program. The age of students entering grade six is 11 years old, counted by the year;

Therefore, the age of lower secondary students will range from 11 to 14 years old (from grade 6 to grade 9)

*Note: This does not include cases where lower secondary students have advanced intellectual development or are older than the stipulated age.

What are the regulations for transferring schools for lower secondary students in Vietnam?

According to Clause 2, Article 5 of the Regulation on transferring and receiving students in lower secondary schools and upper secondary schools issued together with Decision 51/2002/QD-BGDDT, the procedures for transferring schools for lower secondary students are stipulated as follows:

2. Procedures for transferring schools:

a) For lower secondary students:

Transferring schools within the same province or city: The principal of the school receiving the student shall accept the dossiers and consider, resolve them according to the regulations of the Provincial Education and Training Department Director.

Transferring schools from another province or city: The Education and Training Department of the destination shall receive, inspect the dossiers and introduce the student to schools based on residential location.

b) For upper lower secondary students:

Transferring schools within the same province or city: The principal of the school receiving will accept the dossiers and consider, resolve them according to the regulations of the Provincial Education and Training Department Director.

Transferring schools from another province or city: The Provincial Education and Training Department shall receive, inspect the dossiers and introduce the student to schools.

3. School transfers are made at the end of the first semester or during the summer before the new academic year begins. Exceptional timing cases are considered and decided by the Head of the Education and Training Department (for lower secondary education), or the Director of the Education and Training Department (for upper secondary education) of the destination.

The procedures for transferring schools for lower secondary students are stipulated as follows:

- Transferring schools within the same province or city: The principal of the receiving school directs the acceptance of dossiers and considers, resolving them according to the regulations of the Director of the Department of Education and Training.

- Transferring schools from another province or city: The Education and Training Department at the destination directs, inspects the dossiers, and introduces the student to the school according to residential location.

- School transfers are conducted at the end of the first semester of the academic year or during the summer break before the new academic year's start. Exceptional timing cases are evaluated and decided by the Head of the Education and Training Department (for lower secondary education), or the Director of the Department of Education and Training (for upper secondary education) at the destination.
