- The right to propose and register to carry out scientific research topics;
- The right to use available facilities and equipment of the higher education institution to conduct research activities;
- The right to receive financial support for scientific research according to the institution's regulations;
- The right to publish and be supported in publishing research results in scientific journals, proceedings, and other scientific and technological publications domestically and internationally as stipulated by regulations;
- The right to receive support in registering intellectual property rights for research results according to current regulations;
- The right to be considered for priority in academic and training scores; to be prioritized for scholarships and awards as stipulated by the higher education institution;
- The right to enjoy other benefits as stipulated by regulations.

What are rights of mentors guiding students in scientific research in Vietnam?
Based on Article 11 of Circular 26/2021/TT-BGDDT, the rights of mentors guiding students in scientific research are stipulated as follows:
- Mentors shall have research hours counted, receive remuneration, and enjoy other benefits as stipulated by the higher education institution upon completing the guidance of students in scientific research.
- Mentors of students achieving excellent research results, winning scientific and technological awards domestically and internationally, or whose research results are applied and implemented effectively in socio-economic aspects, shall be prioritized for awards and other forms of recognition.
What are regulations on management of students’ scientific research activities in Vietnam
Article 5 of Circular 26/2021/TT-BGDDT stipulates as follows:
Management of Students’ Scientific Research Activities
- The plan and content of students' scientific research activities are reflected in the annual and long-term science and technology activities plan of the higher education institution.
- Students' scientific research activities include:
a) Organizing and implementing scientific research topics for students;
b) Organizing activities to support knowledge, enhance scientific research capacities, and transfer technology for students;
c) Organizing conferences, seminars, scientific forums; competitions for start-up ideas and projects for students. Guiding and encouraging students to participate in scientific and technological awards, exhibitions, competitions, and academic forums domestically and internationally for students;
d) Organizing communication activities about science and technology to raise research ethics awareness, intellectual property knowledge for students; introducing start-up ideas, projects, and research results of students to investors and businesses domestically and internationally;
dd) Rewarding and proposing rewards for students, student groups, and mentors with excellent achievements in scientific research activities; honoring organizations and individuals with significant contributions to students' scientific research activities;
e) Other forms of students' scientific and technological activities according to current regulations.
Thus, the content of students' scientific research activities is reflected in the annual and long-term science and technology activities plan of the higher education institution.
Goals of Students' Scientific Research Activities
Based on Article 2 of Circular 26/2021/TT-BGDDT, the objectives of students' scientific research activities are stipulated as follows:

- To create a favorable environment to support students in engaging in scientific research activities to form ideas, start-up projects, contributing to job opportunities for students after graduation.
Hence, the objectives of students' scientific research activities are as follows:
- To form and develop scientific research capacities for students; to contribute to discovering and nurturing talented young scientists, meeting high-level human resources training requirements.
- To create a favorable environment to support students in engaging in scientific research activities to form ideas and start-up projects, contributing to job opportunities for students after graduation.
