What are requirements in the evaluation of primary school students for the 2024-2025 academic year in Vietnam?

Based on Article 4 of the Regulations on Evaluating Primary School Students issued in conjunction with Circular 27/2020/TT-BGDDT, the requirements for evaluating primary school students for the academic year 2024-2025 are as follows:

- Evaluate students by assessing the level of achievement of required standards and specific manifestations of various skill components in each subject, educational activity, and personal qualities according to the primary school education program.

- Evaluate regularly through comments, evaluate by scores and comments; combine assessments from teachers, students, and parents, with teacher assessments being the most important.

- Evaluate the progress and for the progress of students; emphasize encouragement and motivation in learning and training; help students maximize their potential abilities; ensure prompt, fair, and objective assessments; avoid comparisons between students, and not creating pressure for students, teachers, and parents.

What is the purpose of evaluating primary school students in the academic year 2024-2025 in Vietnam?

According to Article 3 of the Regulations on Evaluating Primary School Students issued in conjunction with Circular 27/2020/TT-BGDDT, the purpose of evaluating primary school students for the academic year 2024-2025 is to provide accurate and timely information, determine the learning and training achievements according to the required standards of the primary school education program, and the progress of students to guide learning activities, adjust teaching activities to improve educational quality. To be specific:

- Helping teachers adjust and innovate organizational forms and educational methods during teaching; promptly identify students' efforts and progress to motivate and encourage them and detect the difficulties they cannot overcome on their own to guide and support them, enhancing the quality and effectiveness of their learning and training activities; contributing to achieving primary education goals.

- Helping students self-assess, participate in peer assessment; self-study, self-adjust learning methods; communicate and cooperate; develop an interest in learning and training to improve.

- Helping parents or guardians (hereinafter collectively referred to as parents) participate in evaluating the process and results of students' learning, training, formation, and development of qualities and competencies; actively cooperate with the school in educational activities for the students.

- Helping educational management officials at all levels to promptly direct educational activities, innovate teaching methods and evaluation methods to achieve educational efficiency.

- Helping social organizations to obtain accurate, objective information, and mobilize social resources to participate in educational development investment.

What are the contents of evaluating primary school students in the academic year 2024-2025 in Vietnam?

Based on Article 5 of the Regulations on Evaluating Primary School Students issued in conjunction with Circular 27/2020/TT-BGDDT, the contents of evaluating primary school students for the academic year 2024-2025 include the following:

- Evaluating the learning process, progress, and results of students in meeting the required standards and specific manifestations of skill components in each subject and educational activity according to the primary school education program.

- Evaluating the formation and development of students' qualities and competencies through key qualities and core competencies as follows:

+ Key qualities: patriotism, compassion, diligence, honesty, responsibility.

+ Core competencies:

- General competencies: autonomy and self-study, communication and cooperation, problem-solving, and creativity;

- Specific competencies: language, mathematics, science, technology, informatics, aesthetics, physical education.

- Some evaluation methods commonly used in the process of evaluating students include:

+ Observation method: Teachers observe and listen to students during classroom teaching, use observation sheets, checklists, and logs to record students' manifestations as evidence for evaluating their learning and training process.

+ Evaluation through learning portfolios, students' products, and activities: Teachers provide comments and assessments on students' products and activities, thereby evaluating students according to related assessment contents.

+ Interview method: Teachers interact with students through question-and-answer sessions to collect information and provide timely comments and support measures.

+ Written test method: Teachers use tests consisting of questions and exercises designed according to the required standards of the program, in the form of multiple-choice, essay, or a combination of both to evaluate the achievement level of the educational content to be assessed.
