What are requirements for individuals in Vietnam to be eligible for the "For the Cause of Education" Commemorative Medal?
Article 8 of Circular 29/2023/TT-BGDDT stipulates that the “For the Cause of Education” Commemorative Medal (hereinafter referred to as the Commemorative Medal) is a form of reward from the Minister of Education and Training, awarded once to individuals within and outside the Education sector who meet one of the following criteria:
- Individuals within the Education sector:
+ Educators, educational administrators at educational institutions and educational management agencies (including officials and public employees, staff specializing in educational management at ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government entities, committees, sectors, central agencies, organizations) with at least 20 years of service in the Education sector.
In cases where individuals are assigned to study or perform military service during their employment and continue to work in the Education sector afterward, the period spent studying or performing military service will be counted as service time in the Education sector for the Commemorative Medal consideration.
The period under disciplinary action will not be counted for the Commemorative Medal consideration;
+ Individuals who have worked for at least 5 years in areas with especially difficult socio-economic conditions as stipulated by the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam will be considered for the Commemorative Medal 5 years earlier than the time specified in point a of this clause.
- Individuals outside the Education sector:
+ Have held leadership or managerial positions for at least 5 years, with significant contributions to the leadership, direction, and development of the Education sector;
+ Have made substantial contributions to adopting policies, organizing practical and effective activities for the development of the Education sector, or contributing financially or materially to the sector's development, as confirmed by the beneficiary unit;
+ Individuals who are overseas Vietnamese or Vietnamese working for foreign organizations in Vietnam and foreigners who have made positive contributions to building, developing Vietnam's education and training, and strengthening the friendly and cooperative relationships between the Education of Vietnam and other countries and international organizations.

Calculation of Prize Money Accompanied by the “For the Cause of Education” Commemorative Medal in Vietnam
According to Article 58 of Decree 98/2023/ND-CP:
Prize Money Levels for Certificates of Merit, Commendation, and Commemorative Medals
1. For individuals:
a) Individuals awarded or posthumously awarded the “Certificate of Merit of the Prime Minister of the Government of Vietnam” will receive a Certificate, Frame, and a prize of 3.5 times the statutory pay rate;
b) Individuals awarded or posthumously awarded Certificates of Merit from ministries, sectors, provinces will receive a Certificate, Frame, and a prize of 1.5 times the statutory pay rate;
c) Individuals awarded a Commemorative Medal from the National Assembly Standing Committee will receive a Certificate, Frame, Medallion, Medallion Box, and a prize not exceeding 0.8 times the statutory pay rate;
d) Individuals awarded a Commemorative Medal from ministries, sectors, provinces, political organizations, political - social organizations, political - social - professional organizations, social organizations, social - professional organizations with a party delegation or a party organization under the Communist Party in government sectors will receive a Certificate, Frame, Medallion, Medallion Box, and a prize not exceeding 0.6 times the statutory pay rate;
dd) Individuals awarded Certificates of Merit from military zones, army corps, army branches, general departments and equivalences under the Ministry of National Defense, the Government Cipher Department; Certificates of Merit from National Universities will receive a Certificate, Frame, and a prize of 1.0 times the statutory pay rate;
e) Individuals awarded Certificates of Commendation stipulated at points a, b, c, and d clause 1 Article 75 of the Law on Emulation and Commendation will receive a Certificate, Frame, and a prize of 0.3 times the statutory pay rate;
g) Individuals awarded Certificates of Commendation from the Chairman of the People's Committee at commune level will receive a Certificate, Frame, and a prize of 0.15 times the statutory pay rate.

According to Article 3 of Decree 73/2024/ND-CP, the statutory pay rate is 2,340,000 VND/month.
The prize money accompanied by the “For the Cause of Education” Commemorative Medal is calculated as follows:
Prize Money = statutory pay rate x 0.6 = 1,404,000 VND.
