According to subsection 1, Section A, Part 11 of the Regulations on minimum knowledge volume, competency requirements that learners must achieve after graduating from intermediate and college levels for technical fields in electricity, electronics, and telecommunications (hereinafter referred to as the Regulations) issued with Circular 48/2018/TT-BLDTBXH, the following regulations apply to the refrigeration equipment installation industry at the college level:
Refrigeration equipment installation at the college level is a profession where practitioners perform the tasks of installing and maintaining industrial refrigeration systems; deep negative temperature cold storage for preserving meats and fish, positive temperature cold storage for preserving vegetables and fruits with large volumes, quick-freezing IQF freezers, commercial cold storage for preserving products in supermarkets and restaurants, etc. in accordance with the processes, meeting technical, aesthetic, and industrial hygiene safety requirements, and meeting the level 5 requirements in the Vietnamese national qualification framework.
The main tasks in the Refrigeration Equipment Installation profession include: installing industrial refrigeration systems, installing commercial refrigeration systems, operating refrigeration systems, maintaining refrigeration systems, enhancing professional skills, organizing labor, and communicating with customers.
The main equipment and tools used to perform the tasks in this profession include: welding kits, mechanical tool kits, pipe bending kits, pipe flaring kits, gas charging kits, voltage and current meters, insulation meters, pressure leak testers, vacuum pumps, various drills, gas recovery machines, electric welders, thermal pipe welders, gas leak detectors, lifting machines, high-pressure pumps, flow measurement devices, temperature measurement devices, balance measurement devices, etc.
Practitioners can work in industrial zones, services, processing, preservation of agricultural products and food, factories manufacturing refrigeration equipment, factories processing and preserving agricultural products and food, companies installing, repairing, and maintaining refrigeration equipment.
Work environments may be indoors and outdoors, in areas with varying heights, and involve interaction with electrical equipment, pressure equipment, lifting machines, and mechanical processing requiring high concentration and specialized skills.
Minimum knowledge volume: 1,800 hours (equivalent to 65 credits).

- Understand common faults, causes, inspection methods, and troubleshooting in installing compressor units;
- Understand the installation process of heat exchangers and expansion valves for systems ensuring safety and technical requirements;
- Analyze installation drawings, survey the site to plan, implement measures, and estimate equipment, manpower, tools, materials, labor protection, etc. for installing heat exchangers and expansion valves;
- Understand common faults, causes, inspection methods, and troubleshooting in installing heat exchangers and expansion valves;
- Understand the installation process of piping systems ensuring safety and technical requirements;
- Understand the working principles of power and control electrical systems;
- Understand the working principles of control, indicator, and safety electrical devices;

- Understand common faults, causes, inspection methods, and troubleshooting during the installation of electrical systems;
- Understand the structure and working principles of refrigeration system equipment;
- Understand the structure and working principles of measurement and testing devices;
- Describe measurement methods for technical parameters;
- Understand the vacuum pumping process, gas filling, and safe operation of refrigeration systems meeting technical requirements;
- Analyze measurement data, plan, and estimate equipment, manpower, tools, materials, labor protection, etc. for adjusting and handing over refrigeration systems;
- Understand common faults, causes, inspection methods, and troubleshooting in the process of adjusting and handing over refrigeration systems;
- Understand the working principles of refrigeration and electrical systems;
- Understand the structure and working principles of refrigeration system components: compressors, condensers, evaporators, expansion devices, electrical devices, auxiliary devices, protection, control, and safety devices;
- Understand the maintenance processes of system components and piping in refrigeration systems: evaporators, condensers, air ducts, water pipes, electrical systems, and auxiliary equipment;
