Based on Article 8 of the Organizational and Operational Regulations of the Athletic Aptitude High Schools issued with Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT, the regulations on supplementary admission to athletic aptitude high schools are as follows:

Supplementary Admission to Athletic Aptitude High Schools and School Transfers

  1. Annually, the school organizes supplementary admissions after the first semester and after the second semester when there are remaining quotas.
  1. Students during training, up to a maximum of six months to one academic year, if they do not meet the professional requirements and have no potential to develop achievements in the sport they are being trained in, will be transferred to another general school in the locality according to current regulations.
  1. Students who wish to transfer to a sports gifted high school in another province or city must comply with current regulations on athlete transfers. If violated, students must reimburse all training costs for the years they were trained at the sports gifted high school where they were previously enrolled before transferring.

a) For students of locally managed athletic aptitude high schools, approval is required from both the Director of the Department of Education and Training and the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism according to regulations.

b) For students of athletic aptitude high schools managed by Ministries or sectors, approval from the governing Ministries or sectors is required according to regulations.

According to the above regulations, the supplementary admission of students to athletic aptitude high schools is conducted annually, with the school organizing supplementary admissions after the first semester and after the second semester when there are remaining quotas.

In addition, during the training process, if a student does not meet professional requirements and has no potential for achievement development in the sport they are being trained in within a maximum of six months to one academic year, they will be transferred to another general school in the locality according to current regulations.

What are regulations on evaluation and classification conducted at athletic aptitude high schools in Vietnam?

Based on Article 9 of the Organizational and Operational Regulations of the Athletic Aptitude High Schools issued with Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT, the regulation on evaluation, classification, and grade advancement at athletic aptitude high schools is as follows:

Firstly, evaluation, classification, and grade advancement, school transition, and entrance exams to universities, colleges, and intermediate schools for students are conducted according to the same regulations as for students in general schools.

Secondly, regarding the evaluation, classification in professional sports skills:

- Regular evaluation and classification of professional sports skills for gifted students is conducted by the sports skills instructors.

- Periodic evaluation and classification are conducted by the direct skill instructors and an Evaluation Council according to the school's general plan. The Evaluation Council is decided by the Principal.

Thirdly, students who are sent for long-term training or competitions, and who cannot meet the time, content, and requirements of cultural subjects, will have remedial classes and evaluations organized by the school to ensure that students complete the full educational program as regulated.

Fourthly, students participating in long-term concentrated competitions or training abroad or at National Sports Training Centers, without conditions to attend grade advancement, school transition examinations, or graduation exams, will be entitled to priority policies according to regulations.

Fifthly, students who win gold, silver, or bronze medals at national or international sports competitions or achieve athlete rankings from Level 1 upward will be entitled to priority policies when advancing grades, school transitions, graduation exams, and university, college, and intermediate school entrance exams according to regulations.

What are regulations on position and function of athletic aptitude high schools in Vietnam?

Based on Article 2 of the Organizational and Operational Regulations of the Athletic Aptitude High Schools issued with Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT, athletic aptitude high schools have the position and function as follows:

- Position: The athletic aptitude high school is an educational institution within the national education system, a specialized school for sports gifted students.

- Function: The athletic aptitude high school functions to train, nurture, and develop sports talents for students and to teach the general education program as stipulated in the Regulations for primary schools; Regulations for lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, and multi-level schools issued by the Minister of Education and Training of Vietnam.
