As stipulated in Article 7 of the Regulations on Organization and Operation of Athletic Aptitude High Schools issued along with Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT, the admission process for athletic aptitude high schools is regulated as follows:

Firstly, regarding the admissions plan

- Athletic aptitude high schools affiliated with localities: The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is responsible for formulating the admissions plan, criteria, and coordinating with the Department of Education and Training to present them to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for approval.

- Athletic aptitude high schools affiliated with Ministries or sectors: The Principal formulates the plan and submits it to the Ministry or sector for approval, including the admissions plan and criteria according to regulations.

Secondly, regarding admission candidates

Students aged 06 to 15, who have completed the educational program appropriate to their age and educational level according to regulations; who possess good health, physique, ethical qualities, an academic ability of average or above, a talent for sports, and a desire to develop sports talents for national sports contributions; who have family consent and meet the stipulated conditions and standards, are eligible to take the entrance examination for athletic aptitude high schools in their specialized sports.

Thirdly, regarding the form and content of admission

- Cultural knowledge: Organize the assessment of academic records and certification of completed education programs according to respective educational levels:

+ Primary school entrants according to current regulations;

+ Lower secondary school entrants must have a certificate of completing the primary education program;

+ High school entrants must have a lower secondary school diploma.

- Specialized sports talents: Organize assessments and examinations

+ Assess physical condition, motor skills, basic sports talents;

+ Competitive examination for talents, qualities, and skills in the intended sports.

What are regulations on study plans and programs at athletic aptitude high schools in Vietnam?

According to Article 6 of the Regulations on Organization and Operation of Athletic Aptitude High Schools issued along with Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT, the following regulations apply regarding the study plans and programs at athletic aptitude high schools:

- Annually, at the beginning of the academic year, the school develops teaching and learning plans for cultural subjects for each educational level and class, as well as training and coaching plans for each scientific and suitable sports talent subject, ensuring the completion of the general education program and the development of students' sports talents.

- The academic program for cultural subjects at athletic aptitude high schools follows the current general education program of the Ministry of Education and Training and is directly managed by the Department of Education and Training.

- The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism directly manages and approves the sports talent training plans of the schools based on the planning and development plans of local sports and the National High-Performance Sports Development Strategy issued by the Government of Vietnam.

- Plans for training camps and participating in age-appropriate sports competitions are organized to assess the training process and the degree of development of students' sports talents.

- The schools organize various educational activities aimed at achieving comprehensive educational goals for students.

The duties and rights of students at athletic aptitude high schools are outlined in Article 12 of the Regulations on Organization and Operation of Athletic Aptitude High Schools issued along with Circular 07/2021/TT-BGDDT:

- Students at athletic aptitude high schools must fulfill duties and rights according to current regulations.

- Complete the general education program as per the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training and the goals and training programs for specialized subjects according to the school's plans.

- Enjoy boarding arrangements, use of facilities, equipment, and practice tools for sports talents. Reasonably arrange time for learning cultural subjects and practicing sports talents to optimally develop their sports talents.

- Participate in sports competitions organized by the Education and Training sector or the sports sector according to the competition’s regulations.

- Enjoy priority policies when advancing to higher classes, transferring educational levels, or enrolling in universities, colleges, and intermediate schools as per the regulations.

- Receive meal allowances, wages, and related policies for athletes according to regulations.
