The teaching quota is the number of theory or practice periods each teacher must teach in one week. To be specific:

1. The teaching quota for primary teachers is 23 periods, for lower secondary teachers is 19 periods, for upper secondary teachers is 17 periods;

2. The teaching quota for teachers at ethnic boarding schools is 17 periods at the lower secondary level, 15 periods at the upper secondary level;

The teaching quota for teachers at ethnic semi-boarding schools is 21 periods at primary level, 17 periods at lower secondary level;

2a. The teaching quota for teachers at preparatory university schools is 12 periods

The teaching quota for teachers at schools and classes for disabled students is 21 periods for primary level teachers, 17 periods for lower secondary level teachers.

3. Teachers serving as the Chief of Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization at a first-rank school teach 2 periods a week, at a second-rank school teach 1/3 of the teaching quota, at a third-rank school teach 1/2 of the teaching quota of teachers of the same educational level. The ranking of schools follows current regulations.
