Pursuant to Section 4 of the General Education Curriculum promulgated together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT (as amended by Article 1 of Circular 13/2022/TT-BGDDT) regarding the education plan:

EDUCATION PLAN

The general education curriculum is divided into two phases: the basic education phase (from Grade 1 to Grade 9) and the career-oriented education phase (from Grade 10 to Grade 12).

The system of subjects and educational activities in the general education curriculum includes compulsory subjects and educational activities, elective subjects oriented towards careers (referred to as elective subjects), and optional subjects.

The actual teaching time in an academic year is approximately 35 weeks. Educational institutions may organize teaching in one session/day or two sessions/day. Both educational institutions that organize teaching in one session/day and two sessions/day must implement the mandatory uniform educational content for all educational institutions across the country.

In Grade 10, the focus is on career-oriented education. The subjects are selected as follows:

*Career-Oriented Phase

- Compulsory subjects and educational activities: Literature; Mathematics; Foreign Language 1; History; Physical Education; National Defense and Security Education; Experiential Activities, Vocational Guidance; Local Education Contents.

- Elective subjects: Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Technology, Informatics, Music, Fine Arts.

- Students choose 4 subjects from the elective subjects.

- Study clusters: Each subject like Literature, Mathematics, History, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Technology, Informatics, Music, Fine Arts has study topics forming study clusters, aimed at deep differentiation, allowing students to enhance their theoretical and practical skills to solve real-world issues and meet career orientation requirements. The time allocated for each study topic is 10 or 15 periods; the total time for a study cluster is 35 periods/year.

In Grades 10, 11, and 12, students select 3 study clusters from 3 subjects matching their personal aspirations and the school's organizational capacity.

- Schools can create subject combinations from the subjects and study clusters mentioned above to meet learner needs while ensuring compatibility with teacher resources, facilities, and teaching equipment.

Optional subjects: Minority Ethnic Language, Foreign Language 2.

What are procedures for compliling textbooks for grade 10 in Vietnam?

According to Clause 1, Article 9 of the Regulation on Standards, Process of Compiling, Editing Textbooks, Standards for Organizations, and Individuals Compiling Textbooks; Organization and Operation of the National Council for Textbook Appraisal issued together with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT (as amended by Clause 2, Article 1 of Circular 05/2022/TT-BGDDT), the compilation process for Grade 10 textbooks is as follows:

Step 1: Selection of Authors for Compilation

- Organizations or individuals compiling textbooks choose authors based on standards.

- Authors develop overall outlines, detailed outlines, and compilation plans based on the general education program issued by the Minister of Education and Training.

- Authors must ensure the progress and quality of textbook compilation.

Step 2: Compilation, Editing, Designing, Illustrating, Completing at Least One Lesson.

- After practical teaching, organize experimental teaching, and receive feedback for perfecting the lesson with contributions and unanimity from all authors to develop other lessons.

Step 3: Collect feedback from teachers, education management personnel, scientists, and educators knowledgeable about general education to review and assess sample textbooks as required by law.

Step 4: Complete the textbook draft for the Ministry of Education and Training to review.

Step 5: The Ministry of Education and Training reviews the textbook draft.

Step 6: Organizations or individuals compiling textbooks complete the textbook draft after review.

Step 7: The Ministry of Education and Training approves and authorizes the use of textbooks.

Step 8: Organizations or individuals compiling textbooks organize the publication and distribution of textbooks.
