What are required literary competencies after studying grade 8 Literature in Vietnam?​

Based on Section IV Appendix, General Education Program for the Literature Subject Issued Attached to Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the literary abilities needed after studying Grade 8 Literature are as follows:

- Understanding the message, thought, emotion, and attitude of the author in the text; recognizing literary scripts, novels, Nôm verses, rules-based poetry, free verse, tragedy, and comedy; content and form of a literary work, literary imagery;

- Identifying and analyzing the effects of some formal elements and artistic measures in each literary genre (the combination of the narrator's voice and character's voice, point of view, conflict, poetic rules, structure, vocabulary, lyrical rhythm; rhetorical devices like repetition, pun, sarcasm, oxymoron).

- Recognizing an overview of Vietnamese literary history; understanding the impact of literature on one's life.

When does the 2024-2025 school year end?

Firstly, the upcoming 2024-2025 school year according to Decision 2045/QD-BGDDT is regulated as follows:

- The earliest school start date is 1 week before the opening ceremony. For Grade 1, the school starts at least 2 weeks before the opening ceremony.

- The opening ceremony for all educational levels will be held on September 5, 2024.

- The first semester concludes before January 18, 2025, and the completion and end of the school year is before May 31, 2025.

- Completion assessment for primary school programs and middle school graduation recognition is before June 30, 2025.

- Completion of admission for beginning grades is before July 31, 2025.

- The high school graduation exam in 2025 is tentatively scheduled for June 26 and 27, 2025.

- Other national exams will be organized as per the regulations and guidance of the Ministry of Education and Training.

*Note: parents and students should follow notifications from the school or local authorities to catch up with the exact school start date for 2024-2025.

Therefore, according to the above regulations, the completion and end of the school year is before May 31, 2025.
