What literary competencies shall grade 8 students achieve after studying Literature?
Based on Section IV Appendix of the curriculum for the Literature subject issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the literary capabilities after studying the grade 8 Literature subject are as follows:
- Understand the message, thoughts, emotions, and attitudes of the author in texts; recognize literary scripts, novels, and Nom poems, regulated and free verse, tragedy, and comedy; content and form of literary works, literary figures;
- Identify and analyze the effects of some formal elements and artistic methods in each literary genre (combination of narrator and character's speech, viewpoint, conflict, poetic rules, structure, vocabulary, lyrical emotional trajectory; rhetorical devices like repetition, wordplay, sarcasm, antithesis).
- Recognize some general features of Vietnamese literary history; understand the impact of literature on personal life.
What is the general orientation for teaching methods in grade 8 Literature?
According to the curriculum for the Literature subject, issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the general orientation for teaching methods in grade 8 literature is as follows:
The Vietnamese Literature curriculum applies educational methods with a general orientation of integrated and differentiated teaching; diversifying organizational forms, methods, and teaching aids; promoting proactive, creative learning, and applying students' knowledge and skills.
Based on the program, teachers proactively and flexibly build and organize lessons with the following orientation:
- Implement integrated intradisciplinary requirements (both knowledge and skills), interdisciplinary integration, and priority educational content (transdisciplinary); implement differentiated teaching according to student targets at all levels and differentiation contributing to vocational orientation in upper secondary education.
- Train students in reading, writing, speaking, and listening methods; practice, experience receiving and applying Vietnamese and literary knowledge through various learning activities inside and outside the classroom; emphasize the use of teaching aids, overcome the lecture-style teaching, develop thinking, skill training in using tools for students.
- Enhance, promote students' active independence; allocate more time for students to study textbooks and learning materials, practice, present, discuss, defend learning outcomes so that students know how to read, write, speak, and listen according to different requirements and levels; assess and evaluate students' learning task completion.
