The earliest school start date shall be one week before the opening ceremony. For grade 1, the earliest school start date shall be two weeks before the opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony will be held on September 5, 2024.
The first semester should conclude before January 18, 2025, and the academic program and school year should end before May 31, 2025.
The evaluation and recognition of primary school graduation, as well as middle school graduation, should be completed before June 30, 2025.
Enrollment for initial grade classes should be completed before July 31, 2025.
The high school graduation exam for 2025 is expected to take place on June 26 and June 27, 2025.
Other national exams will be held as per the regulations and guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training.

Starting with the 2025's High School Graduation Exam, candidates will have to take 11 subjects, including both mandatory and elective subjects, specifically:
- 2 mandatory subjects: Mathematics and Literature.- 2 elective subjects from the following: Foreign Language, History, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Economic and Legal Education, Informatics, Technology.
Therefore, from 2025, the high school graduation exam will include the additional subject of Geography, and candidates will only have to take 2 mandatory subjects and 2 elective subjects, making a total of 4 subjects.
Implementation Roadmap for the High School Graduation Examination and Recognition Plan from 2025 in Vietnam
According to Section 9 of the Implementation Plan for the Examination and High School Graduation Recognition from 2025, issued with Decision 4068/QD-BGDDT in 2023, the implementation roadmap is as follows:
- The exam plan will be implemented from 2025.- Phase 2025 - 2030: Maintain stable paper-based exam methods.- Post-2030 phase: Gradually pilot computer-based exams for multiple-choice subjects in localities with sufficient conditions (possibly combining paper-based and computer-based exams). When all localities nationwide meet the conditions, high school graduation exams for multiple-choice subjects will be shifted entirely to computer-based formats.- Continue researching to establish a common exam question bank/library to enable devolution for localities and educational institutions to organize assessment exams for high school graduation quality, replacing the current national exam method held simultaneously nationwide. During implementation, adjustments may be made to ensure suitability with the economic and social context of the country.
What Score is required to pass the 2025's High School Graduation Exam?
According to Article 42 of the Regulations on High School Graduation Exams issued with Circular 15/2020/TT-BGDDT, the criteria for recognizing high school graduation are as follows:

Candidates eligible to take the exam, who are not disciplined with exam result cancellation, and score above 1.0 in all exams and components of the composite exam for graduation recognition, on a 10-point scale, and achieve a final graduation score of 5.0 or higher will be recognized as having graduated from high school.
Candidates eligible to take the exam, who are exempted from all exams pursuant to Article 36 of these Regulations, are recognized as having graduated from high school.
Thus, to be recognized as having passed the 2025's High School Graduation Exam, candidates must score above 1.0 in all exams and components of the composite exam for graduation recognition on a 10-point scale, and achieve a graduation score of at least 5.0.
