- The cognitive value of literature

- Topics and themes of the text; the relationship between details and themes, how to determine the theme of the text; the author's attitude and emotions expressed through the text

- Summary of text

- Forms of proverbs

- Topics, events, situations, plots, spaces, times, and characters of fables and science fiction stories

- First person and third person narrators; effects of each type of narrator in a story

- Some formal elements of four-line and five-line poems: number of lines, words, rhymes, and rhythms

- Lyrical quality, personal perspective, language of essays and narrative essays

- Life experiences and understanding of literature

What are the materials used for the grade 7 Literature subject in Vietnam?

According to the regulations in Subsection 2 Section 5 of the General Education Program in Literature issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDĐT, the materials used for the grade 7 Literature subject in Vietnam includes the following contents:

(1). Literary texts

- Fables, short stories, science fiction stories

- Poems, four-line poems, five-line poems

- Essays, narrative essays

- Proverbs

(2). Argumentative texts

- Social argumentative essays

- Literary argumentative essays

(3). Informative texts

- Texts introducing rules or regulations in games or activities

- Reports

How many lessons do grade 7 students have in Literature subject in Vietnam?

Based on the General Education Program in Literature issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the lesson duration for the literature subject is as follows:

Thus, the lesson duration for grade 7 literature is 140 lessons, in which 63% is reading, 22% is writing, 10% is speaking and listening, and 5% is periodic assessment.

What is the age of grade 7 students in Vietnam?

Based on Article 33 of the Charter of Lower Secondary Schools, Upper Secondary Schools, and Multi-Level Schools issued with Circular 32/2020/TT-BGDDT stipulating the age of Lower Secondary School students:

Age of Lower Secondary School Students

1. The age of students entering grade 6 is 11 years old. The age of students entering grade 10 is 15 years old. For students who were advanced a grade in the previous level or entered the educational level at an age higher than the stipulated age, the age of entering grades 6 and 10 can be adjusted based on the age of the year of graduation of the previous level.

2. Ethnic minority students, students with disabilities, students with special difficult circumstances, and students returning from abroad can enter the educational level at an age up to 3 years older than the stipulated age.

3. Students cannot be held back more than 3 times in one educational level.

4. Students with good physical and mental development may enter school earlier or may be advanced a grade within the educational level. The consideration for each specific case follows these steps:

a) Parents or guardians submit a request to the school.

b) The principal sets up a Survey and Consultation Council consisting of the following basic members: school leadership representatives and representatives of the school's parent association; teachers teaching the student's current class.

c) Based on the survey results from the Survey and Consultation Council, the principal considers and decides.

5. Students within the stipulated age returning from abroad, and children of foreigners working in Vietnam, may study at lower secondary schools in their residential area or at another lower secondary school if there is capacity for them. Each specific case follows these steps:

a) Parents or guardians submit a request to the school.

b) The principal organizes a student competency assessment and places them in an appropriate class.

Thus, the age of students entering grade 7 lower secondary school is 12 years old. For students advanced a grade, held back or entering the educational level at an age higher than the stipulated age, the age of entering grade 7 can be adjusted based on the age of the previous year.

Additionally, ethnic minority students, students with disabilities, students with special difficult circumstances, and students returning from abroad can enter school at an age older than the stipulated age.
