3. The annual breaks of teachers include: summer vacation, Lunar New Year holiday, semester break, and other holidays. To be specific:
a) The annual summer vacation for teachers: 02 months (including the annual leave as regulated by the Labor Code) with full salary and any applicable allowances.
b) The Lunar New Year holiday, semester break: comply with the regulations of the Minister of Education and Training;
c) Other holidays: comply with the regulations of the Labor Code.
*Based on the school year plan, scale, characteristics, and conditions of each school, the principal arranges the annual breaks for teachers reasonably._

What is the increased amount in the salary paid to a primary school teacher in Vietnam when the statutory pay rate is increased to 2.34 million?
Under Article 3 of Decree 73/2024/ND-CP, the statutory pay rate applicable to teachers who are public employees in public service providers is 2,340,000 VND/month.
The salary paid to a teacher who is a public employee is calculated as follows:
Salary = Coefficient x Statutory pay rate
Before July 1, 2024, the statutory pay rate was 1.8 million (Based on Decree 24/2023/ND-CP). Compared to the current statutory pay rate of 2.34 million, the statutory pay rate has increased by 30%.
Additionally, Clause 1, Article 4 of Decree 73/2024/ND-CP stipulates the implementation of bonus policies based on ad-hoc achievements and annual work performance evaluation and classification.
Therefore, the salary paid to a primary school teacher shall be increased by at least 30% when the statutory pay rate is increased to 2.34 million. In addition, primary school teachers also enjoy bonus policies based on ad-hoc achievements.
Note: Decree 24/2023/ND-CP expires on July 1, 2024.

What are the duties of a primary school teacher in Vietnam?
Under Clause 1, Article 27 of the Primary School Charter issued with Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT, the duties of primary school teachers are regulated as follows:
- Implement the primary education program and the school's educational plan.
Proactively execute and take responsibility for the educational plan; be autonomous and responsible for implementing professional tasks (contents, education methods, student assessment) and the quality and effectiveness of education for each student in their class, ensuring program regulations and suitability with students' characteristics and the school's specific conditions.
- Participate in building the educational plans of the professional group and the school; regularly update directives from the sector; prepare, organize teaching, and assess students according to regulations; carry out other professional activities.
- Establish a friendly, democratic relationship between teachers and students, with students' parents and the community; help students to be proactive, creative, confident, and self-managing in learning and training.
- Uphold the professional ethics, honor, and prestige of educators; interact courteously, unite, and support colleagues; model behavior for students; love, treat fairly, and show respect to students; protect students' legitimate rights and interests.
- Perform self-assessment according to teacher professional standards; engage in self-study and self-improvement to enhance professional capabilities; carry out regular teacher training duties as prescribed; share and exchange professional knowledge with colleagues inside and outside the school through professional meetings and training sessions.
- Apply information technology in teaching, learning, and professional activities; be creative and flexible in creating teaching aids.
- Participate in selecting textbooks according to regulations; propose the school equip reference materials and teaching devices suitable for usage in teaching processes.
- Engage in educational quality accreditation.
- Participate in implementing compulsory education, universal education, and literacy elimination in the local area.
- Coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization, students' families, the community, and relevant organizations to perform educational duties.
- Manage and organize the implementation of the educational plan at the school site when assigned by the principal.
- Perform other duties as prescribed by law and as assigned by the principal.
Additionally, homeroom teachers have the following responsibilities aside from the above duties:
- Proactively understand each student in the assigned class; create educational activities with clear goals, content, and methods feasible and suitable to students' characteristics, local conditions, and the reality to foster both class-wide and individual student progress.
- Implement educational activities according to the plan approved by the principal.
- Coordinate closely with students' parents or guardians, teachers, youth team leaders, and relevant organizations to organize educational activities, support, and supervise students' learning and training in their class; aggregate assessments at the end of the first semester and the school year; guide students in evaluating and proposing awards; prepare the list of students recommended for retention; complete students' academic records.
- Report periodically or unexpectedly on the class situation to the principal.
Moreover, teachers acting as Leaders for the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization will be responsible to the principal for building and implementing activity plans for the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization and Ho Chi Minh Little Star, contributing to achieving comprehensive education goals.
