What is the guidance on selecting modules in the Retraining Program 03 in Vietnam?

According to Section 3 of the Regular Retraining Program for teachers at general education institutions issued along with Circular 17/2019/TT-BGDDT, the duration of the Retraining Program 03 for primary school teachers in Vietnam is as follows:

GUIDELINES FOR PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION

1. The implementation of the Regular Retraining Program for teachers at general education institutions includes 03 retraining programs as stipulated in Section III of this Program.

2. Retraining duration:

a) Each teacher at a general education institution must ensure the specific retraining duration as follows:

- retraining program 01: Approximately 1 week/school year (about 40 lessons/school year);

- retraining program 02: Approximately 1 week/school year (about 40 lessons/school year);

- Retraining Program 03: 1 week/school year (40 lessons/school year);

b) Based on task requirements and local education plans for each school year, educational management levels may adjust the duration of retraining program 01 and retraining program 02 suitably but cannot change the duration of Retraining Program 03 for each teacher at general education institutions (ensuring 120 lessons/year);

c) Based on Retraining Program 03, teachers at general education institutions may choose modules for retraining suitable to personal development needs of qualities and professional competencies each year, ensuring compliance with the stipulated duration.

3. The implementation of the Regular Retraining Program for teachers at general education institutions is carried out annually in accordance with the regular retraining regulations issued by the Minister of Education and retraining.

Thus, based on their individual needs each year, teachers can autonomously choose the necessary retraining modules, ensuring the stipulated duration.

The duration of Retraining Program 03 will be 1 week per school year (40 lessons per school year).

The module durations in Retraining Program 03 are as follows:

- Teacher’s Qualities

Module GVPT 01: Enhancing the ethics of teachers in the current context (20 lessons)

Module GVPT 02: Building the style of teachers in general education institutions in the current context (20 lessons)

- Professional Skills

Module GVPT 03: Personal professional development (40 lessons)

Module GVPT 04: Developing teaching and educational plans oriented towards developing student qualities and competencies (40 lessons)

Module GVPT 05: Using teaching and educational methods to develop students' quality and capacity (40 lessons)

Module GVPT 06: Assessing students in general education institutions oriented towards developing student qualities and competencies (40 lessons)

Module GVPT 07: Advising and supporting students in teaching and educational activities (40 lessons)

- Building an Educational Environment

Module GVPT 08: Building school culture in general education institutions (20 lessons)

Module GVPT 09: Implementing democratic rights in schools within general education institutions (20 lessons)

Module GVPT 10: Implementing and building a safe school environment, preventing school violence in general education institutions (40 lessons)

- Developing School-Family-Society Relationships

Module GVPT 11: Establishing cooperation with parents and stakeholders in teaching and educating students in general education institutions (20 lessons)

Module GVPT 12: Coordinating school, family, and society to conduct teaching activities for students in general education institutions (20 lessons)

Module GVPT 13: Coordinating school, family, and society to implement moral and lifestyle education for students in general education institutions (20 lessons)

Module GVPT 14: Enhancing foreign language or ethnic language proficiency for teachers in general education institutions (20 lessons)

Module GVPT 15: Applying information technology, exploiting and using technological devices in teaching and educating students in general education institutions (40 lessons)

What is the purpose of the Regular Retraining Program for teachers at general education institutions in Vietnam?

According to Section 1 of the Regular Retraining Program for teachers at general education institutions issued together with Circular 17/2019/TT-BGDDT, the purpose of the Regular Retraining Program for teachers at general education institutions is clearly stated as follows:

The Regular Retraining Program for teachers at general education institutions aims to provide retraining according to the job position requirements; to provide annual mandatory subject knowledge and skills for teachers in general education institutions;

At the same time, it serves as a basis to manage, direct, organize, and compile materials for training and self-training to enhance professional qualities, professional capacity, and skills for teachers in general education institutions, meeting job position requirements, and improving the responsiveness of teachers in general education institutions to the development requirements of general education and the requirements of teacher professional standards in general education institutions.

Are teachers at gifted schools in Vietnam required to participate in the Regular Retraining Program for teachers at general education institutions?

According to Section 2 of the Regular Retraining Program for teachers at general education institutions issued together with Circular 17/2019/TT-BGDDT, the regulations are as follows:

Participants

The regular retraining program for teachers in general education institutions is applicable to teachers currently teaching in primary schools, lower secondary schools, upper secondary schools, schools with multiple educational levels, gifted schools, boarding and semi-boarding ethnic secondary schools (hereinafter referred to as general education institutions).

Thus, teachers at gifted schools in Vietnam are required to participate in the Regular Retraining Program.
