Pursuant to Article 4 of the Regulation on the National Scientific and Engineering Research Competition for lower and upper secondary school students issued together with Circular 06/2024/TT-BGDDT:

Projects sent to attend the Scientific Research Competition for upper secondary school students in Vietnam must meet the following requirements:

- Ensure honesty in scientific research; no cheating, unlawful copying, or forgery; not using or presenting the content, research results of others as their own.

- The research duration of the project should not exceed 12 consecutive months and must be within the period from January of the year preceding the competition year to 30 days before the opening date of the Competition.

- Group project is not allowed to change members once the project has started. The project results must reflect the contributions of each member.

- Projects researching pathogens, toxic chemicals, or substances harmful to the environment are not allowed to participate in the Competition.

- The project must be approved, evaluated by the educational institution where the student is studying, and selected by the competition unit as per regulations.

- The project must meet the display requirements set by the Competition Steering Committee.

How many projects can each Department of Education and Training send to attend the Scientific Research Competition for upper secondary school students in Vietnam?

According to clause 2, Article 5 of the Regulation on the National Scientific and Engineering Research Competition for lower and upper secondary school students issued together with Circular 06/2024/TT-BGDDT:

Competition units, number of competition projects, competitionants, and advisors

1. Competition units

Each Department of Education and Training; each high school directly under the Ministry and Agencies of equivalent rank (commonly referred to as Ministry-affiliated schools); each parent university, university, institute, or academy with a high school is a competition unit.

2. Number of competition projects

a) For competition units that are Departments of Education and Training, each unit can register a maximum of 03 (three) projects. Particularly, the Departments of Education and Training of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, each is allowed to register a maximum of 06 (six) projects;

b) For competition units that are Ministry-affiliated schools, parent universities, universities, institutes, academies, each unit can register a maximum of 02 (two) projects;

c) The host unit of the Competition can register a maximum of 06 (six) projects. Particularly if the host unit is the Hanoi Department of Education and Training or the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, each unit can register a maximum of 12 (twelve) projects.

Particularly if the host unit is the Hanoi Department of Education and Training or the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, each unit can register a maximum of 12 projects.

3. Competitionants and research advisors

a) Competitionants must meet the following conditions:

- Being students of grades 8, 9, 10, 11, 12;

- Voluntarily participating and selected to the competition team of the competition unit;

- Having academic and conduct results of the first semester (if the Competition is held in the second semester) or the previous school year (if the Competition is held in the first semester) that are from fairly good level or above;

- Each competitionant can only participate in 01 (one) project in 01 (one) round of the Competition.

b) Research advisors

- Each competition project must have at least 01 (one) research advisor who is a teacher or staff with expertise relevant to the project and is working at the educational institution where the competitionant is studying.

- Each research advisor is allowed to advise only 01 (one) project in 01 (one) round of the Competition.

Thus, students from grades 8 to 12 are eligible to participate in the Scientific Research Competition for upper secondary school students in Vietnam if they meet the stipulated conditions.
