Under Article 9 of the Regulation on Organization and operation of upper-secondary schools for the gifted, issued together with Circular 05/2023/TT-BGDDT, the duties of the specialized teams in an upper secondary school for the gifted in Vietnam are:
The specialized team of the gifted school is established and performs the tasks as prescribed in the Charter of lower-secondary schools, upper-secondary schools and multi-level schools and also perform the following additional duties:
+ Develop programs and develop teaching materials for specialized subjects according to the advanced education program for specialized subjects prescribed by the Minister of Education and Training; research, apply advanced teaching methods, test and assessment methods to teaching, test and evaluate students' learning and conduct performance.
+ Advise the principal in formulating and organizing the implementation of a plan to develop cooperation activities between the school and local and foreign high-quality educational and training institutions and scientific research institutions to improve high quality education and management.
+ Organize scientific research, make their own equipment and teaching aids; support teachers in scientific research and guide students in scientific research.
+ Build teaching staff of specialized teams as the core for professional activities of the school and of the province or centrally-affiliated city.
+ Improve professional competence and practice of team members.
+ Keep track of the learning and working process of former students.
+ In each school year, chair at least 01 (one) professional meeting with attendance of teachers of other lower-secondary schools and upper-secondary schools in order to share solutions and results of the specialized team in researching how to effectively apply local and international educational program and teaching methods, testing and assessment methods.

Are students of an upper secondary school for the gifted in Vietnam allowed to transfer to another upper secondary school for the gifted?
Under Clause 2, Article 18 of the Regulation on organization and operation of upper-secondary schools for the gifted, issued together with Circular 05/2023/TT-BGDDT, the transfer of students from a gifted school to another gifted school shall comply with the regulations on transferring and receiving students studying at lower-secondary schools and upper-secondary schools of the Ministry of Education and Training and meet extra requirements as follows:
- If the sending gifted school and the receiving gifted school has held the enrollment by a common exam (the same exam question, the exam period), such student must be adequately qualified to be admitted to the receiving gifted school.
- If the sending gifted school and the receiving gifted school has not held the enrollment by a common exam (the same exam question, the exam period), or such common exam (with the same exam question, the exam period) has been administered but the mentioned student is inadequately qualified to be admitted to the receiving gifted school, he/she must take the entrance exam and meet the requirements pertaining to supplementary enrollment in the receiving gifted school as prescribed.

- Every year, the gifted school administers exams, contests, forums and professional activities within the school or in collaboration with other educational institutions to discover outstanding gifted students in each subject.
- Students with outstanding talents are cared for, nurtured, monitored for development and assessed regularly to have appropriate fostering methods to develop the students' talents to the fullest.
- Increase the use of assessment methods and tools suitable for gifted students in order to improve the detection and fostering of students' capacity.
