According to Article 4 of the Regulation on Consideration for awarding the Science and Technology Award for Young Lecturers and Students in Higher Education Institutions issued together with Circular 45/2020/TT-BGDDT, the criteria for topics and projects sent to be considered for the Science and Technology Award for young lecturers and students in Vietnam in Vietnam are as follows:
- Projects by young lecturers sent to be considered for the Science and Technology Award must meet the following criteria:
+ Each project must be primarily conducted by one young lecturer, and the number of team members must not exceed 5;
+ The project must have been evaluated and accepted as per regulations, and must have been published or applied in practice for at least one year up to the time of submission of the application for the Award;
+ The project must not have received or been concurrently submitted for any other national or international Award up to the time of submission for the Award.
- Topics by students sent to be considered for the Science and Technology Award must meet the following criteria:
+ Each topic must be primarily conducted by one student, and the number of team members must not exceed 5 students with a maximum of 2 advisors, including one principal mentor;
+ The product of the topic must have been published or applied in practice for at least one year up to the time of submission of the application for the Award. Forms of publication include:
++ Monographs or reference books with publishing licenses.
++ Articles published in scientific journals.
++ Reports presented or published in proceedings of national and international scientific conferences and workshops.
++ Reports or product displays, demonstrations at conferences, workshops, and seminars from faculty level upwards.
++ Application in practice confirmed by the organization or unit using the research product.
+ The topic must be evaluated and selected by the higher education institution to be submitted for the Award;
+ The topic must not have received or been submitted for any other Award at the Ministry level or equivalent up to the time of submission;
+ Graduating theses or capstone projects are not eligible for submission for the Award.
- Projects and topics submitted must ensure honesty in scientific research;
- As of the time of consideration for the Award, the author/group of authors must not violate the regulations stipulated in Article 8 of the Law on Science and Technology of 2013.

- Natural Sciences: Mathematics and statistics, Computer science and information, Data science and artificial intelligence, Physics, Chemistry, Earth sciences, Environmental science, Biology, and other natural sciences.
- Engineering and Technology Sciences: Civil engineering, Electrical engineering, Electronics and telecommunications engineering, Information engineering, Mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, dynamic mechanics, Chemical engineering, Materials engineering and metallurgy, Medical engineering, Environmental engineering, Environmental biotechnology, Industrial biotechnology, Nanotechnology, Food and beverage processing technology, and other engineering and technology sciences.
- Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences: Basic Medicine, Clinical Medicine, Pharmaceutical sciences, Biotechnology in medicine, and other medical and pharmaceutical sciences.
- Agricultural Sciences: Crop Science, Animal husbandry, Veterinary medicine, Forestry, Fisheries, Agricultural biotechnology, and other agricultural sciences.
- Social Sciences: Psychology, Economics and business, Educational science, Sociology, Law, Political science, Economic and social geography, Mass communication and media, and other social sciences.
- Humanities: History and archaeology, Linguistics, literature, and culture, Philosophy, Journalism and information, Ethics and religion, Arts, and other humanities.
Who are eligible participants in the Science and Technology Award for young lecturers and students in Vietnam?
According to Clause 3, Article 1 of the Regulation on Consideration for awarding the Science and Technology Award for Young Lecturers and Students in Higher Education Institutions issued together with Circular 45/2020/TT-BGDDT, the eligible participants include:
- Lecturers who are not older than 35 years at the time of submission for the Award and have science and technology projects regulated in Clauses 1 and 2, Article 3 of Decree 78/2014/ND-CP to be submitted for the Award;
- Students currently enrolled at higher education institutions at the time of submission for the Award and having scientific research topics to be submitted for the Award.
