What arre the procedures for assessing Grade 4 Technology textbooks used in general educational institutions in Vietnam?

Under Article 16 of the Regulations on Standards, Procedures for Drafting, Revising Textbooks; Standards for Organizations, Individuals Drafting Textbooks; and Organization and Operation of the National Textbook Assessment Council (referred to as the Regulations) issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT, amended by Clause 7 Article 1 of Circular 05/2022/TT-BGDDT, the procedures for assessing textbooks are carried out as follows:

Step 1: No later than 15 days before the first meeting of the Council, the textbook sample is sent to the Council members by the organizing unit.

Council members read, study, and write comments and evaluations on the textbook sample according to the content of each clause stipulated in Articles 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT (Article 8 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT is amended and supplemented by Clause 1 Article 1 of Circular 05/2022/TT-BGDDT).

Step 2: The Council meets and discusses the textbook sample according to the content of each clause stipulated in Articles 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT (Article 8 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT is amended and supplemented by Clause 1 Article 1 of Circular 05/2022/TT-BGDDT).

Step 3: Council members assess and grade the textbook sample.

- Assess and grade the textbook sample according to the content of each clause stipulated in Articles 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT (Article 8 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT is amended and supplemented by Clause 1 Article 1 of Circular 05/2022/TT-BGDDT) into one of three categories: "Qualified", "Qualified with revisions", "Unqualified";

- Overall assessment and grading of the textbook sample into one of three categories: "Qualified", "Qualified with revisions", "Unqualified":

+ The textbook sample is classified as "Qualified" if the grading result according to all the content of each clause stipulated in Articles 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT (Article 8 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT amended and supplemented by Clause 1 Article 1 of Circular 05/2022/TT-BGDDT) is "Qualified";

+ The textbook sample is classified as "Qualified with revisions" if the entire grading result according to all the content of each clause stipulated in Articles 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT (Article 8 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT amended and supplemented by Clause 1 Article 1 of Circular 05/2022/TT-BGDDT) is "Qualified" and "Qualified with revisions", provided that the content stipulated in Article 4 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT must be classified as "Qualified";

+ The textbook sample is graded as "Unqualified" in other cases.

Step 4: The Council assesses the textbook sample:

- The Council grades the textbook sample as "Qualified" if at least 3/4 (three-quarters) of the total number of Council members grade it as "Qualified";

- The Council grades the textbook sample as "Qualified with revisions" if at least 3/4 (three-quarters) of the total number of Council members grade it as "Qualified" and "Qualified with revisions" or at least 3/4 (three-quarters) of the total number of Council members grade it as "Qualified with revisions";

- The Council grades the textbook sample as "Unqualified" in other cases.

What are the essential prerequisites for the content and format of the Grade 4 Technology textbooks?

Under Article 4 of the Regulations issued in conjunction with Circular 33/2017/TT-BGDDT, the essential prerequisites of Grade 4 textbooks are as follows:

- The content and format of the textbooks must comply with the laws of Vietnam and conform to the national standards for publications.

- The content and format of the textbooks must not be prejudiced against ethnicity, religion, occupation, gender, age, and social status.
