What are the criteria for selecting Grade 12 Geography textbooks for Vietnam's General Education Program 2018?

According to the provisions of Article 3 of Circular 27/2023/TT-BGDDT on the criteria for selecting textbooks as follows:

Criteria for selecting textbooks

1. Suitable for the socio-economic conditions of the locality.

2. Suitable for the conditions of teaching and learning in the educational institution.

The selection of Grade 12 Geography textbooks under the General Education Program 2018 must consider that the textbooks need to be suitable for the socio-economic conditions of each locality and suitable for the conditions of teaching and learning in each institution.

What is the process for the subject team to select Grade 12 Geography textbooks in Vietnam?

The process for selecting Grade 12 Geography textbooks in schools is regulated according to Article 7 of Circular 27/2023/TT-BGDDT.To be specific:

- Based on the plan of the Council and the criteria for selecting textbooks, the subject team leader develops a plan to organize the selection of Grade 12 Geography textbooks within the subject team, reports to the head before implementation;

- Organize for all subject teachers of the educational institution (including tenured, contractual, seconded, visiting, and inter-school teaching teachers) to participate in selecting the subject textbooks;

- No later than 20 days before the first meeting of the subject team, the subject team leader organizes for the teachers to study the textbooks of the subject, write comments, and evaluate the textbooks according to the criteria for selecting textbooks;

- The subject team leader organizes a meeting with the subject teachers to discuss and vote to select 01 (one) textbook for that subject.

In the case of subjects where only one textbook has been approved by the Minister of Education and Training, the subject team selects the textbook in the decision without voting.

The selected textbook must be chosen by at least half of the subject teachers.

If no textbook receives the support of at least half of the teachers, the subject team must discuss and vote again; the textbook with the highest number of votes in the second round is selected.

If, in both rounds, there are two textbooks with the highest number of votes equal, the subject team leader decides to choose one among them.

All meetings of the subject team are recorded in minutes, detailing the comments and evaluations of the participating teachers, signed by the subject team leader and the person assigned to compile the minutes;

- The subject team leader aggregates the results, compiles a list of textbooks selected by the team, signed by the subject team leader and the person assigned to compile the list.
