Sample 1 Because I was engrossed in watching cartoons on TV the previous night, I forgot to do my homework. The next morning, when the teacher checked the exercise book and saw that I hadn't completed it, she didn’t scold or criticize me in front of the class but gently asked the reason. I remembered the promise I made to my parents and teachers not to lie, so I honestly told the teacher. After listening, although she was a bit disappointed that I was too busy playing to study, she gently advised me to complete yesterday's assignment during today's self-study session. To fulfill my promise, I diligently finished all the assigned tasks. When the teacher collected the books for grading, she praised me for being honest and encouraged me to maintain this noble quality. From then on, I no longer neglected my studies for fun. |
Sample 2 Yesterday, my mom had to go on a business trip. I promised to help her take care of the house. In the morning, I woke up really early. After breakfast, I swept the house. Then, I took the clothes out of the washing machine to dry. I even watered the plants in the garden. By noon, when Dad came home from work and cooked lunch, we had a happy meal together. Afterwards, I washed the dishes thoroughly. In the afternoon, I collected the clothes and put them in the closet. When Mom came back, she found the house tidy and praised me. I felt very happy. |
Sample 3 Last week, because I was too busy playing, I didn’t fully complete my math homework. The next day, when I went to class, the teacher checked the exercise book and saw that I hadn’t finished. She criticized me and gave me a low grade. I was very worried, afraid that my parents would find out and be upset and scold me. I thought about hiding this, not telling my parents. But I remembered the promise I made to my parents not to lie. So when I got home, I told them everything. Even though my parents were disappointed that I was playing instead of doing my homework, they were also glad that I was honest and didn’t lie. From this incident, I became more diligent and didn’t neglect my studies anymore. I will strive to study well to make my parents happy. |
Sample 4 I am very interested in a robot assembly toy set, but it is only sold for one week. I really want that toy set. Knowing about this, my mom said, "If you promise to get good grades in this weekend’s exam, I will buy the toy set for you in advance." I agreed with my mom right away. The next day, she bought the toy set for me in advance, which made me really happy. I knew that I had to fulfill my promise, so I tried my best to review and complete all the assignments given by the teachers. Prior to the exam, I practiced the sample exercises. I was thrilled when I finished the test and got an outstanding score of 10. Seeing my effort to keep my promise, my parents were very happy and praised me: "Our son is so smart and knows how to keep his promises." |
Sample 5 Over the weekend, my parents had to visit my grandparents. My sister Thao and I promised to help care for the house. After my parents left, Thao carefully locked the gate. We stayed inside studying, reading, or playing games. We also helped sweep the floor and water the plants. The day passed quickly. In the evening, when our parents came back, they praised us. |
Sample 6 Last week, being too engrossed in play, I didn’t complete my math homework fully. When I went to class the next day, the teacher checked the old homework and saw it incomplete. She reprimanded me and gave me a low grade. I was very worried, fearing that my parents would be upset and scold me if they found out. I contemplated hiding this, not telling my parents. However, recalling my promise to not lie, I decided to share the truth with them. Although they were disappointed because I was playing instead of completing assignments, they appreciated my honesty. From that incident, I became more diligent and avoided being distracted by play. I am determined to study well to make my parents proud. |
