What are the objectives of the applicable general education program in Vietnam?
Under the provisions of Section 2 of the General Education Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the objectives of the applicable general education program in Vietnam are as follows:
- The general education program concretizes the goals of general education, helping students master general knowledge, effectively apply learned knowledge and skills in life, self-study throughout life, have an orientation for career choices suitable to their abilities, build and develop harmonious social relationships, have a personality and rich spiritual life, thereby having a meaningful life and contributing positively to the development of the country and humanity.
- The primary education program helps students form and develop basic elements that lay the foundation for harmonious physical and mental development, traits, and capacities; primarily oriented towards education about personal values, family, community, and necessary habits and routines in studying and living.
- The lower secondary education program helps students develop the traits and capacities that have been formed and developed in primary education, self-adjust themselves according to common social standards, apply active learning methods to complete foundational knowledge and skills, have initial understanding of industries and awareness of career orientation for continued upper secondary education, vocational training, or labor participation.
- The upper secondary education program helps students continue to develop the necessary traits and capacities for workers, citizens' awareness and character, self-learning and lifelong learning consciousness, career choice ability suitable to abilities and interests, conditions, and personal circumstances to continue studying, vocational training, or labor participation, adaptation ability to changes in the context of globalization and new industrial revolution.
