The time frame for consideration for awarding, announcement of titles, and organization of presentation ceremony
1. The titles “People’s Teacher” and “Teacher of Merit” are considered and announced every 3 years on the occasion of Vietnam Teachers' Day on November 20.
2. Ministries, departments, central authorities, provinces, and national parent universities organize the ceremony to award the titles to “People’s Teacher” and “Teacher of Merit” under their management authority after being conferred by the President.
Thus, the "Teacher of Merit" title is considered every 3 years and officially announced on Vietnam Teachers’ Day on November 20.
What are the regulations on salary grading for lower secondary school teachers in Vietnam?
Under Article 8 of Circular 03/2021/TT-BGDDT on the salary grading for lower secondary school teachers in Vietnam:
Salary Grading
1. Public employees appointed to the professional title of lower secondary school teacher in accordance with this Circular shall apply the corresponding salary scale issued under Decree No. 204/2004/ND-CP dated December 14, 2004, of the Government of Vietnam on salary policies for officials, public employees, and armed forces. Specifically:
a) Grade III Lower secondary school teacher, code V.07.04.32, applies the salary coefficient for public employees of category A1, from salary coefficient 2.34 to 4.98;
b) Grade II Lower secondary school teacher, code V.07.04.31, applies the salary coefficient for public employees of category A2, group A2.2, from salary coefficient 4.00 to 6.38;
c) Grade I Lower secondary school teacher, code V.07.04.30, applies the salary coefficient for public employees of category A2, group A2.1, from salary coefficient 4.4 to 6.78.
2. The salary grading when being appointed to the professional title follows the guidance at paragraph 1, Section II of Circular No. 02/2007/TT-BNV dated May 25, 2007, of the Ministry of Home Affairs guiding salary grading when upgrading, changing gardes, and changing types of officials and public employees, and under current legal regulations. When implementing new salary policies, the change and grading to new salary grades shall follow the Government of Vietnam’s regulations.
For 2024, the salary coefficients for lower secondary school teachers are:
- Lower secondary school teacher class 3, code V.07.04.32, applies the salary coefficient for public employees of category A1, ranging from 2.34 to 4.98;
