According to Article 34 of the Regulations on Primary School attached to Circular 28/2020/TT-BGDDT, primary school students have the following duties:
Duties of students
1. Learn and practice according to the educational plan, school rules; have self-discipline in learning and training to comprehensively develop qualities and capabilities according to the goals of the primary education curriculum.
2. Fully and effectively perform learning tasks; know how to self-study under the teacher's guidance; actively participate in experiential activities, apply acquired knowledge to real life; exercise, maintain personal hygiene.
3. Be filial to parents and grandparents; show respect and courtesy to teachers and elders; be united, love, and help friends, younger ones, the elderly, people with disabilities, and those in difficult circumstances.
4. Comply with the rules, protect school property and public places; obey traffic order and safety; maintain hygiene and protect the environment.
5. Contribute to activities building, protecting, and promoting the school's and local traditions.

Under Article 29 of the Education Law 2019, the objectives of educating primary school students in Vietnam are as follows:
Objectives of general education
