Sample Essay: Recounting a Sports Competition You Watched
Yesterday, I had a truly special occasion when I watched a thrilling sports competition held at the school. The competition was a football match between classes, and I was extremely excited to witness the vibrant atmosphere and beautiful plays.
The competition took place on the school field, which had been meticulously prepared. All the teams wore uniforms and were ready to compete. The atmosphere on the field was very lively, with enthusiastic supporters standing around the stands. Everyone was very excited and eagerly awaited the start.
The competition was between two teams, one from class 7A and the other from class 7B. Each team had 7 players, and the match lasted 30 minutes. The referee blew the whistle and the match officially began. Right from the first minutes, the match was very intense. Class 7A launched a quick attack, but class 7B defended very well. At that time, the match was very balanced, with neither team backing down.
After a few minutes of competition, class 7A unexpectedly had a sharp counterattack. A player from class 7A received the ball from midfield, bypassed a defender from class 7B, then took a strong shot, sending the ball straight into the corner of the goal. The goalkeeper from class 7B tried to dive and save but couldn't stop it. The entire schoolyard erupted in cheers from the students.
Although class 7B conceded a goal, the players did not give up. They continued to play very resiliently and finally, in the game's last moments, class 7B advanced their formation and scored an equalizing goal. Once again, the schoolyard became vibrant with students clapping and cheering enthusiastically.
The match ended with a draw of 1-1, and both teams left the field with bright smiles. Although there wasn't a winning team, the sportsmanship, solidarity, and efforts of the players left me deeply impressed.
This sports competition was not only a tense match but also an opportunity for students to demonstrate sportsmanship, exercise health, and strengthen friendship and solidarity within the class. I was very happy to participate and hope that in future sports competitions, the students will compete even better!
Recounting a Lesson in Your Class
Today, my class had an intriguing lesson. It was a Vietnamese Language lesson, and our teacher introduced a lesson on how to write descriptive essays. The teacher began with a simple question: "Have you ever described a beautiful scene?" We were all eager and raised our hands to share.
After listening to the teacher explain the steps of writing a descriptive essay, the teacher asked us to choose a favorite beautiful scene to describe. I chose to describe the garden in front of my house, where I often play in the afternoons. The teacher enthusiastically helped us analyze how to describe from the overall to the details. The teacher mentioned that when describing a landscape, we must pay attention to colors, shapes, and the emotions that the scene brings.
The lesson was very lively. Each of us described a different scene, from majestic mountains to tranquil rivers, from fresh gardens to small charming houses. Those images vividly appeared through each of our descriptive words. The classroom became quiet, only the sound of pens gliding on paper and occasional encouraging words from the teacher.
At the end of the lesson, the teacher asked the class to read their descriptive essays. I was delighted when Minh described an early morning with fog, and the golden sunlight shining down on rice fields. Minh's description was so vivid that the whole class was fascinated. The teacher praised everyone, saying that even though we were just learning, we could write very good essays.
Today's lesson helped me understand better how to observe and describe. I also learned how to use words to make the essay more lively. It was a useful and exciting lesson that I will never forget.
