2. Suitable for the teaching and learning conditions at the educational institution.

What are the current objectives of the primary education Vietnamese language program?

Based on Section 3 of the General Education Literature Program issued with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the objectives of the current primary education Vietnamese language program are as follows:

(1) General Objectives

- Contribute to forming and developing essential qualities for students: patriotism, kindness, diligence, honesty, and responsibility; nurture their souls, shape their character, and develop their personality.

Literature helps students explore themselves and the world around them, understand people, have a rich inner life, possess humane views on life and behavior; love the Vietnamese language and literature; have a sense of the nation's origin and identity, contribute to preserving and developing Vietnamese cultural values; have a spirit of absorbing human cultural quintessence and the ability to integrate internationally.

- Contribute to helping students develop common competences: self-regulation and self-study, communication and cooperation, problem-solving, and creativity.

Especially, literature helps students develop language and literary competences: practice reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills; have a foundational common knowledge of Vietnamese and literature, develop both imaginative and logical thinking, and form basic literacy for a cultured person; know how to create common texts; know how to receive and evaluate literary texts specifically, and communication products and aesthetic values generally in life.

(2) Primary School Objectives

- Help students form and develop essential qualities with specific manifestations: love for nature, family, and homeland; a sense of origin; a fondness for beauty, goodness, and healthy emotions; enthusiasm for learning, eagerness for labor; honesty, straightforwardness in study and life; a sense of responsibility towards oneself, family, society, and the environment.

- Help students begin to form common competences, develop language competence in all basic skills: reading correctly and fluently; understanding the content and main information of the text; relating, comparing outside the text; writing correctly in terms of spelling and grammar; writing specific sentences, paragraphs, and short essays (mainly narrative and descriptive essays); speaking clearly; listening and understanding the speaker's ideas.

Develop literary competence with requirements to distinguish poetry from stories, know how to read poetry and stories; recognize the beauty of artistic language; have imagination, understand and be emotionally stirred by the beauty and goodness of humans and the world as expressed in literary texts.
