The East Sea covers how many square kilometers? How many square kilometers of the East Sea are under Vietnam's sovereignty?
The East Sea is bordered by nine countries: Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Brunei, the Philippines, and China.
The East Sea has two major gulfs: the Gulf of Tonkin and the Gulf of Thailand.
The East Sea covers approximately 3.5 million square kilometers, and according to the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the waters under Vietnam’s sovereignty cover over 1 million square kilometers, accounting for nearly 30% of the East Sea’s area.
The part of the East Sea under Vietnamese sovereignty includes 48 bays, the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos, and approximately 3,000 large and small islands (specifically, the system of coastal islands includes 2,773 islands).
Additionally, in terms of administrative organization, Vietnam currently has 12 island districts: Co To, Van Don (Quang Ninh province), Bach Long Vi, Cat Hai (Hai Phong city), Con Co (Quang Tri province), Hoang Sa (Da Nang city), Ly Son (Quang Ngai province), Truong Sa (Khanh Hoa province), Phu Quy (Binh Thuan province), Con Dao (Ba Ria-Vung Tau province), Kien Hai, and Phu Quoc (Kien Giang province).

What is the logic for constructing and developing the History and Geography program for primary education in Vietnam?
According to sub-section 4, Section 8 of the general education program for History and Geography issued together with Circular 32/2018/TT-BGDDT, the logic for constructing and developing the History and Geography program for primary education is as follows:
Some primary-level History and Geography knowledge has been integrated into certain topics of the subject Science and Society in grades 1, 2, and 3.
In grades 4 and 5, the content of history and geography education is organized into an independent subject to help students broaden and enhance their understanding of the surrounding environment, appropriate to their cognitive level.
The content of history and geography education includes: initial knowledge about nature, population, some economic activities, and historical-cultural aspects of regions, the country, and the world; events, historical figures reflecting milestones marking the development of historical periods, achievements in the nation’s endeavors of state-building (economics, politics, culture,...) and national defense.
The History and Geography program does not separate into two distinct sub-subjects.
Historical and geographical knowledge is integrated into topics and extended in terms of geographical and social space (starting from the local area, region, to the country, and the world).
This logic ensures that by completing the subject in primary school, students will have foundational knowledge about the history and geography of their local area, region, country, and the world to continue studying History and Geography in secondary school.
When teaching, teachers need to connect the lesson content to distinctive, representative aspects of the local history and geography.
The content of the History and Geography subject focuses on selected "points". Selected historical knowledge does not strictly follow chronological order but reflects extraordinary events and significant figures representing certain regions and historical periods.
For geography, regions are selected not just based on natural similarities but also on the historical role of that area; each region is introduced with selected, outstanding geographical features.
The scope of local education content in grade 4 is at the provincial or centrally governed city level.
Localities base on the required achievements stipulated in the program to build specific teaching content suitable to the characteristics of each locality.
