What are the procedures for 2024 university admission in Vietnam?
Based on Article 20 of the university and pre-school education college admission regulations promulgated together with Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT, the regulations on admission and handling of choices according to the general schedule are as follows:
- Training institutions are autonomous in organizing admission according to individual methods and criteria or voluntarily coordinating in groups to organize admission according to collective methods and criteria.
The Ministry of Education and Training provides guidance on the admission schedule and supports handling choices on the system.
- After the registration period ends on the system, training institutions download information and data from the system to serve the admission process, including registration data and high school graduation exam results, high school academic results of candidates applying to the training institution by various admission methods.
- Admission principles
+ Admission scores are determined to ensure the number of enrollments in each discipline and training program matches the announced quotas and must not be lower than the input threshold.
+ For a training discipline (or program) by a method and subject combination, all candidates are equally selected based on their admission scores, regardless of their registered choice priority, except for cases specified in point c of this clause.
+ In cases where many candidates have the same score at the end of the list, training institutions may use additional criteria such as choice order priority (to select candidates with higher priority choices);
+ The use of regional and subject priority points is ensured uniformly and consistently per the priority score regulations defined in Article 7 of this Regulation.
- After each admission cycle, training institutions upload to the system the list of candidates predicted to be eligible for admission to various disciplines and training programs (according to different admission methods).
The choice handling system will automatically remove lower-priority choices of candidates eligible for multiple admission choices, returning the list of candidates predicted to be admitted to the highest-priority choice.
- Based on the choice handling results, the training institution repeats the admission process in the next cycle, adjusting the admission scores to match the quotas within the specified period.
In the final cycle, the training institution decides the admission scores for different disciplines and training programs (according to different admission methods) and uploads the list (official) of candidates eligible for admission to the system.
Based on the final choice handling results, the training institution decides the list of candidates admitted to various disciplines and training programs.
- Training institutions announce the admission scores (and additional conditions, if any) for different disciplines and training programs according to different admission methods; organize for candidates to check their personal admission results on the training institution’s information portal (or the portal of the coordinating group of training institutions).
