When do students in Vietnam return to school after the National Day (September 2nd)?

Currently, there are no specific regulations related to the schedule of returning to school after the holiday on September 2, 2024, for students.

However, teachers, lecturers who are public employees, and laborers will have a National Day holiday as prescribed.

According to Notification 5015/TB-LDTBXH in 2023 of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs:

1. Officials, public employees, and laborers in administrative bodies, public service units, political organizations, and socio-political organizations (hereinafter referred to as officials and public employees) shall have the Lunar New Year holiday in 2024 from Thursday, February 8, 2024, to the end of Wednesday, February 14, 2024 (from the 29th day of the 12th Lunar month of the Year of the Cat to the 5th day of the 1st Lunar month of the Year of the Dragon). This holiday period includes 05 days of Lunar New Year and 02 days of compensatory weekly rest as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

2. Public employees shall have the National Day holiday in 2024 from Saturday, August 31, 2024, to the end of Tuesday, September 3, 2024. This holiday period includes 02 days of National Day holiday and 02 weekly rest days.

5. For laborers not covered by Clause 1 of this notification, the employer shall decide the Lunar New Year and National Day holiday schedule in 2024 as follows:

- For Lunar New Year holiday: choose either 1 day at the end of the Year of the Cat and 4 days at the beginning of the Year of the Dragon, or 2 days at the end of the Year of the Cat and 3 days at the beginning of the Year of the Dragon, or 3 days at the end of the Year of the Cat and 2 days at the beginning of the Year of the Dragon.

- For the National Day holiday: Monday, September 2, 2024, and choose one of the two days: Sunday, September 1, 2024, or Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

- Notify the plan for the Lunar New Year and National Day holiday in 2024 to laborers at least 30 days in advance.

- If the weekly rest day coincides with the prescribed holiday, the laborer is entitled to a compensatory weekly rest day as prescribed in Clause 3, Article 111 of the Labor Code.

- Employers are encouraged to apply the Lunar New Year holiday schedule for laborers as prescribed for officials and public employees.

Therefore, students will also have holidays according to the above schedule. To be specific:

The return to school schedule for public schools after the holiday on September 2, 2024, will be on September 4, 2024.

The return to school schedule for private schools after the holiday on September 2, 2024, will be on September 3, 2024, or September 4, 2024.

Note: If the school does not follow a fixed weekly rest schedule on Saturdays and Sundays, the holiday schedule will be arranged based on the specific program and plan of the unit.
