It's been nearly half a year since I transferred schools here. I miss you and my old school a lot, so today I'm writing to check on you and to tell you about my current class and school situation.

How have you been? The school year has begun and the first-term exams are approaching, you must be busy studying, right? How are your parents? I guess after you did well last year, your dad will reward you with a bike to go to school this year, right?

These days, I’ve grown taller and gained weight. My house is near the school, so I walk, saving my dad from having to drop me off. My school is near the sea, so it's very cool. I haven't written to you for the past few months, please don't be mad at me because I've been burying myself in study preparations for the mid-term quality examination.

The New Year is coming, isn't it Diem? I remember very clearly, this time last year, you and I were together collecting beautiful flowers to plant and prepare for Tet. We picked a lot of flowers like Da Lat red roses, white lilies, gladiolus, carnations... The flower gardens were vibrant with colors and scents as spring approached. But now, you're way up in Ho Chi Minh City, while I'm tending to the garden alone.

It's inviting you to Ben Tre to enjoy Tet with me. I wonder if you'll leave the city to come to the riverside orchard, rowing boats during spring? My garden, as you know, is full of fruits like plums, persimmons, peaches, green pomelos, mangosteens, rambutans… everything you can think of. Come visit me, Diem! Next year, I'll visit the city to play with you. My older brother is in his third year of university there. He's mentioned several times about taking me to Suoi Tien, Ky Hoa Lake, Ben Thanh Market, but I haven't been able to go. During the school year, there's no time, only during summer and Tet can we have the opportunity for outings, right Diem?

Dear Hong Mai,
