According to Circular 22/2021/BGDDT, teachers must provide assessments on students based on criteria regarding competencies, qualities, achievements, and efforts of the students at the middle of the first semester and the end of the semester.

Under Clause 2, Article 8 of Circular 22/2021/BGDDT, class advisors must cooperate with subject teachers to assess the formation and development of primary traits and capacities of students:

- Excellent: Satisfy requirements for traits under formal education program excellently and display merits.

- Good: Satisfy requirements for traits under formal education program well and display merits but not enough to be placed in the Excellent category.

- Qualified: Satisfy requirements for traits under formal education program.

- Unqualified: Fail to satisfy requirements for traits under formal education program.

Sample 1

- Excellent

The student exhibits a proactive, diligent learning spirit and always completes tasks well. The student has a solid grasp of basic knowledge and demonstrates analytical and creative thinking. Furthermore, the student is conscious of helping peers and sets an example for the whole class. It is hoped that this performance will be maintained.

- Good

The student studies seriously and shows remarkable progress. The students' basic knowledge is quite solid but need to enhance their analytical skills and gain more confidence in expressing opinions. With more determination, the student can achieve higher results.

- Qualified

The student completes basic tasks and has a positive learning attitude. However, the knowledge is not yet secure; more time should be spent reviewing to solidify key contents.

- Unqualified

The student lacks focus on studies and needs to improve proactivity. A specific study plan needs to be established, and more effort is required to improve results.

Form 2

- Excellent

The student is outstanding with a positive learning attitude, always completes tasks fully and pioneer in knowledge expansion. The student shows creative and flexible thinking in problem-solving. It is hoped that this performance will be maintained and developed.

- Good

The student should further develop creativity and confidence in sharing opinions. With persistence and greater confidence, the student will achieve higher results.

- Qualified

The student displays a good learning attitude and completes basic tasks. However, more time should be spent on reviewing to consolidate essential knowledge and improve academic outcomes.

- Unqualified

The student needs to focus more on studies, complete tasks well, and master fundamental knowledge. Encouragement is given to establish a study plan and strive harder to make improvements.

According to Article 19 of Circular 22/2021/TT-BGDDT, the responsibilities of subject teachers in assessment of 7th-grade students in Vietnam include:

- Conduct regular assessment; participate in periodic assessment as per assignment of principals; record or fill scores and assessment categories in student monitor and assessment records (by classes) and student monitor and assessment records (of teachers).

- Calculate average subject scores (for subjects assessed via both feedback and scores); consolidate assessment category (for subjects assessed via feedback) by semester and school year; directly record or fill scores and assessment categories in student monitor and assessment records (by classes), student monitor and assessment records (of teachers), and education records.

- Provide feedback on training results of students under Point b Clause 1 Article 8 hereof to class advisors.

What are the responsibilities of class advisors in the assessment of 7th-grade students in Vietnam?

According to Article 20 of Circular 22/2021/BGDDT, specific responsibilities of class advisors are stipulated as follows:

- Assist principals in managing assessment of students according to this Circular.

- Verify revision of scores and/or assessment categories of subject teachers; consolidate training and learning results of students in each semester and the entire school year in student monitor and assessment records (by classes) and education records.

- Assess training results of each semester and the entire school year of students; produce lists of students eligible for grade advancement, re-assessment of specific subjects, training during summer break, class retention, and commendation.

- Record or fill assessment results of each student in student monitor and assessment records (by classes) and education records:

+ Feedback on training and learning results of students; assessment category of training and learning results of students.

+ Whether students are eligible for grade advancement or grade retention; recognized for completion of lower secondary education level, upper secondary education level or failure to complete lower secondary education level, upper secondary education level; commendations.

- Instruct students on how to conduct self-assessment during training and learning process. Cooperate with subject teachers, The Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneer Organization, Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, Representative Committees of students’ parents of classes, and relevant agencies, organizations, individuals in educating students and receiving information on training and learning process of students.

- Informing students’ parents in particular about training and learning progress, results students.
